The Turning Point franchise of Netflix is gearing up to spread its branches once again, and this time it is a documentation of the Vietnam War, all set for a late April premiere. Brian Knappenberger is at the helm of the five-part docuseries that will explore one of the most unfortunate events in the history of the United States and how it had an adverse effect on the socio-political conditions.

Netflix recently launched the official trailer of Turning Point: The Vietnam War, and viewers have already gotten a taste of originality featured through rare footage and exclusive interviews. The two-and-a-half-minute-long clip offers intense glimpses of explosions, choppers hovering, gunfires, and protests of the common people. The official synopsis of Turning Point: The Vietnam War, per IMDb, reads:

"The Vietnam War's profound effects on American identity, causing social division and eroding government trust. More than military defeat, it transformed US politics and culture."

Turning Point: The Vietnam War is set for an exclusive Netflix premiere on April 30, 2025. The series will serve the original story with five episodes, all dropping on the same day. The day of release will also mark the 50th year from the conclusion of the long-raging Vietnam War (November 1, 1955, to April 30, 1975).

More about Turning Point: The Vietnam War

Per Deadline, director Knappenberger has also worked as a producer for Turning Point: The Vietnam War, and rare war clips from archives of CBS News (all thanks to See It Now Studios) have been accessed to add more credibility. According to reports, declassified documents from government sources have also been used for gathering information and adding key details of the war.

Each episode of the show will be one hour long and will portray details of how the war started and the manner in which the geopolitical tumult eventually escalated. A change in foreign policy resulted in a crisis on a domestic scale—not to mention the structural changes in the government.

Not only will Turning Point: The Vietnam War portray a story of military failure but also explore the deep-rooted effect it left on the societal dynamics to the core. Luminant Media is at the root of the project alongside Brian Knappenberger and Sarah Huisenga (as executive producers), and for co-executive production, we have Sabrina Parke and Clare Tucker.

The Turning Point franchise has so far been quite a success owing to other previous documentaries, namely 9/11 and the War on Terror & The Bomb and the Cold War. The upcoming entry promises to bring back stories of the Fall of Saigon with intricate research, unseen original footage from the Vietnam War, and statements from war veterans and other noteworthy individuals.

The first series of Turning Point aired back in 2021, and later in 2024, another 9-part documentary reached the small screens. With solid ratings and positive audience response on the first two shows, Turning Point: The Vietnam War promises to carry the franchise's success forward.
