Colter does gather information on Emmaline in Tracker Season 2 Episode 5

Despite Emmaline’s brother Jasper offering only $5,000 reward for the task, which is way less than what they usually charge, Velma (Abby McEnany) takes up the case. Colter understands her sentiment and starts investigating.

Upon arriving at Jasper’s house, Colter learns that the community does not really like them. Making their dislike for the siblings clear, there were numerous dead animals that ended up on their doorsteps, including a dead coyote that they found at their door just before the day Emmaline disappeared.

They had moved to this town just six months back and Jasper had taken a job that required him to do mine safety and inspection, a profession that was not popular with the locals. It seems that this might have been the motive behind one of the locals taking their anger out on Emmaline.

The local cops remain unsupportive in searching Emmaline as they believe that she has run away. To get a better idea about the dead animals at their doorstep, Bobby (Eric Graise) finds out who picked up the road kills for the government in that area on the dates given by Colter and they come across a person named Jim Wheeler.

As they find out that Jim is working on that day, Colter confronts him where he is working and asks him about Emmaline’s current location. While accepting to drop off the dead animals at their doorstep, Jim denies any connection with Emmaline’s disappearance.

Colter finds out Emmaline got fired from her job

As his next stop, Colter reaches Emmaline’s place of work and learns that she had been let go last month. Tess, Emmaline’s old boss, mentioned that she was apparently into witchcraft and thus there was no place for her there.

One of Emmaline’s colleagues, however, thought that Emmaline was nice though she did have conversations with plants. She also informed Colter that Emmaline had got the job after another employee Shirley was fired.

After Travis, Shirley’s husband came in a few days ago and blasted at Emmaline, she was fired by Tess. Colter then, naturally goes to Travis and while successfully dodging Travis’ attempted attack on him with a hammer, the two get to talking.

Travis then informs Colter that Emmaline helped him a lot. When his wife Shirley was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, Emmaline had claimed that she would be able to help her. However, this promise angered Travis as he thought Emmaline was getting Shirley’s hopes up for no reason.

He then confronted Emmaline at her workplace and shouted at her, warning her to stay away from them. However, he then realized that he was completely wrong as his wife was now not only pregnant, but also any sign of the cancer had simply vanished.

Emmaline is a healer in Tracker Season 2 Episode 5

As it turns out that Emmaline is a healer and though she did not even say this to her brother, the word probably spread. Travis further confirmed that all the ingredients that Emmaline used to cure Shirly were collected by her from the local mountains.

He also mentioned that one particular ingredient, chicken of the woods mushrooms, only grew on dead-fall oak and no one else goes there now since it’s Drells’ land. However, Emmaline, being new to the place, could not have that knowledge and thus ended up going there.

After this conversation, Colter goes into the woods and finds a broken glass jar lying near the chicken of the woods mushrooms. He further spots some broken branches, and follows a path that leads to a remote cabin.

Despite most of the cabin in a state of ruins, one room seems to be in use by someone. Colter finds paperwork, jars, and drawings of plants in that room. He then calls Jasper as he believes these must belong to Emmaline.

Jasper comes and after taking a look around and says that Emmaline probably kept all of this a secret because her mother was also a healer and some people were so scared of her that they wanted her dead.

Upon some more searching, Colter discovers tire tracks and blood that lead away from the cabin. Eventually he gets to Drells’ property.

Colter finally finds Emmaline in Tracker Season 2 Episode 5

Reaching the Drells’, Colter enters the main house and finds an ill old man lying there. While he cannot talk, he points to a door, and following his directions, Colter discovers Emmaline.

As is revealed, Emmaline is taking care of the Drells’ father and thus refuses to leave with Colter. She also confirms that she was taken as she is a healer. The Drells come into the room and Emmaline hides Colter in the nick of time.

As she is taken to treat the Drells’ father, Emmaline places her hand on the sick man’s head and gives him a liquid to drink. She then asks everyone to wait and see the results. However, as the old man starts to vomit, the men think Emmaline is hurting him.

They are almost on the verge of killing Emmaline when Colter enters the scene and shoots one man. He then grabs Emmaline and runs and as more men come in pursuit of them, he is forced to shoot two more people.

While running, Emmaline injures her leg on a bang stick and eventually, they make it to an abandoned store where Colter starts bandaging her leg. However, the Drells enter the building soon and with only one bullet left, Colter finds him in a dire situation.

He leaves Emmaline at a safe place and goes out to face the Drells with a knife. However, as he successfully chokes one of the men out and then tries to leave the building with Emmaline, he is shot with an arrow in his stomach.

Two men then haul away Emmaline and Colter somehow manages to help Emmaline slash a man with her knife and take hold of his crossbow. While this is going on, the younger brother from the Drells’ house comes and informs them that their father would live, thanks to Emmaline.

However, the men still refuse to let Emmaline go. She then threatens to slash her own palm and take away their father’s health and let him die. The men believe that she is capable of this and leave Colter and Emmaline, thinking Colter will die anyway.

As they leave, Emmaline calls 911 for help and placing her hand on his chest, tells Colter not to worry as everything would be fine. Miraculously, Colter then finds himself conscious and stable and assures Emmaline that he would indeed be fine.

When asked about the curse Emmaline was talking of, she tells Colter that she was bluffing, inspired by the story that Colter told her of his sister, cursing them as children.

A few days after this, Colter checks himself out of the hospital, much to Reenie and Velma’s surprise. He goes to Jasper’s and finds the reward money wrapped around a jar. As he enters their house, he finds it to be empty, realizing the siblings have moved on with their life.

The episode ends as Colter nods to himself in agreement of their move.
