Netflix's four-part miniseries Toxic Town re-investigates one of the biggest environmental scandals in the Northamptonshire town of Corby in the 1990s.

Many pregnant women gave birth to children with defects, which they believe were coming from the toxins released by the town's council's new plant. The series dramatizes their battle against the Corby council.

Episode 3 saw the Corby women strategizing their next steps while Roy and the council try their best to cover up the case. After Sam decides to go independent, he hands over important documents to the mothers that will likely benefit their case.

Here's what happened in Toxic Town Episode 3.

After the mothers make a connection with the woman at the pub, they start handing out flyers for more affected families joining their local campaign. With Des by their side, they build a strategy to expose the council.

The first task at hand is to prove that a cluster of pregnant women were all affected by toxins at the same time in Corby. They wait for the Regional Health Authority Report to confirm that. Susan tells the group that Anglian Water will test their supply.

The Corby mothers face a setback in Toxic Town Episode 3

While the Corby mothers are fighting the case, Sam confronts Rhodes and Miller Construction, who are still making profits despite this ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, the mothers face a dual setback in Toxic Town Episode 3. Firstly, the RHA report shows no evidence of a Corby cluster that could prove that the Corby women were more affected by toxins than the Kettering area. Instead, the report shows that the defects in Corby's unborn children were lower.

Secondly, the Anglian water report suggests that there is no trace of toxins in the plant's water supply, which also means that the mothers were seemingly wrong about the source of their contamination.

Des and the mothers finally have a breakthrough in Toxic Town Episode 3

After facing two major setbacks, the mothers meet with many health professionals, showing them their reports.

They finally get the good news that the RHA report was wrong and their Corby cluster has been proven, which allows Susan and Maggie to discuss their case against the Council on GMTV. They both talk about the Council's negligence and how it has affected many women in their area.

Dani's meeting with a fetal specialist tells her that the toxins in their bodies were laden with metal cadmium, and it is unknown what effects it can have on pregnant women.

Sam decides to run independently and hands documents against the council to Des. While talking to Des, Tracey reveals how her car was filled with dust while working at the plant. She needed to change her wind pipes regularly, and Des had an epiphany. He finally realizes that the toxins were not in the water but in the dust particles.
