What happened on Top Chef season 22 episode 2?
On Top Chef Season 22 Episode 2, the quickfire challenge began after Sarah Levy was introduced as the guest. The main task for each contestant was to make their own version of poutine but with a twist. It was mandatory for them to include cheese, vegetables, and sauce in it.
Towards the end, Shuai Wang was declared the winner of this challenge, which meant that only one cast member was able to secure themselves from elimination. Now it was time for the remaining chefs to be divided into two teams for a group task. They had to use maple syrup as the main ingredient in each dish for the brunch menu. Each chef was responsible for one single dish in order to prepare a menu that would make them stand out in front of the judges.
The Top Chef teams were split into two, brown and green. The brown team consisted of Lana Lagomarsini, Shuai Wang, César Murillo, Zubair Mohajir, Tristen Epps, Paula Endara, and Corwin Hemming. Meanwhile, the green team included Kat Turner, Katianna Hong, Henry Lu, Anya El-Wattar, Massimo Piedimonte, Vinny Loseto, and Bailey Sullivan.
After the dishes were served in front of the judges, it was revealed that the Brown team was the winner, as the use of maple in their dishes was more evident. Amongst the Green team contestants, Henry and Bailey were in the bottom two. Henry was unable to perform well; meanwhile, Bailey's dish was undercooked. Bailey said,
"I just think I didn't cook the food that I really know. Pastry is far from something I do every day, but I'm still proud of the work that I did here and the way that I pushed myself out of my comfort zone. Last Chance Kitchen — I'm hopeful. I've just gotta keep myself mentally in the game."
The upcoming Top Chef Season 22 Episode 3 is set to air on Bravo TV, where contestants will serve Jamaican patties, which they will have to cook from scratch. New episodes of the show are released every week on Thursdays at 9/8c.
