Top 5 shows to watch if you liked High Potential
The Mentalist
Bruno Heller’s The Mentalist would be a great watch following High Potential because of the similar themes of crime and investigation. A police procedural show, The Mentalist follows the character of Patrick Jane, played by Simon Baker, who works as an independent consultant with the California Bureau of Investigation.
Jane’s unorthodox investigative methods coupled with his almost psychic abilities might remind one of Morgan and how she approaches crimes, making The Mentalist a great watch post High Potential.
The Mentalist is streaming on Hulu.
Numb3rs
Another police procedural, Numb3rs was created by Cheryl Heuton and Nicolas Falacci. The show follows Don Eppes, an FBI agent who works with the LA Violent Crime Squad. With an already interesting premise, things get even more exciting when Don starts taking help from Charlie Eppes, his brother who is also a sort of math wizard.
Led by Rob Morrow and David Krumholtz as the two Eppes brothers, Numb3rs would be a great show to watch to fill that void left by High Potential.
Numb3rs is streaming on Prime Video.
HPI
It is never a bad idea to watch the original of a remake and the same goes for HPI, on which High Potential is based. HPI follows Morgane Alvaro, a mother with three children working as a housekeeper. She then starts working with the police to help them solve complicated crimes using her high intelligence.
Created by Stéphane Carrié, HPI is a French crime comedy, and watching it after High Potential will not only give you a chance to compare the two shows, it will also help you understand how the French and American approaches might differ in the genre of crime comedy.
HPI is streaming on Hulu.
Will Trent
Will Trent can be another great watch for fans of High Potential. Created by Liz Heldens, Daniel T. Thomsen, and Karin Slaughter, the police procedural show is based on the book series of the same name.
The show follows Will, who had been abandoned by his parents when he was a child and presently suffers from dyslexia but because of his brilliant mind can solve complicated crimes. Will Trent has everything that a crime junkie would love, complex crimes, a consistently good storyline, and interesting characters, making the show a good option to watch after High Potential.
Will Trent is streaming on Hulu.
Monk
Andy Breckman’s Monk is another gem in the crime comedy genre. The show follows Adrian Monk, an ex-SFPD detective who had to quit because he has phobias of a lot of things. However, despite quitting his job, he is shown to take up the profession of a private detective.
This choice of profession not only enables him to solve crimes but also allows him to help his colleagues back at SFPD. With a great storyline and complicated crimes, Monk will be a good watch for people who are looking for something similar after High Potential.
Monk is streaming on Peacock.
All these shows share the common theme of crime with a hint of comedy. The protagonists are enigmatic while being somewhat different which adds to the fun of these shows.
