Tomorrow and I is a story showcasing what happens when culture collides with science. The sci-fi Thai anthology series on Netflix is set in a future where technology has taken over the world, becoming an inseparable part of people’s personal lives.
Directed by Paween Purijitpanya, the show features four episodes, each dealing with a distinct story that touches upon the themes of morality and traditional Thai customs in a highly advanced society.
The subjects shown in the series range from cloning and robotic prostitution, to AI revolutionizing Buddhist teachings and the global warming crisis. Tomorrow and I promises to be a thought-provoking watch that is bound to spark conversations among the audience.
What is the release date of Tomorrow and I?
Tomorrow and I is scheduled to be released on Netflix on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. All four parts of the anthology series will be dropped on the platform simultaneously. Viewers across the world will be able to binge the show exclusively on Netflix but with a subscription.
What to expect from Tomorrow and I?
The show depicts four different stories based on the intersection of Thai culture and advanced technologies and focuses on the moral dilemmas and conflicts that arise from the collision.
The first story, Black Sheep, is based on cloning, which transcends the realities of life and death and enables people to bring their loved ones back from the dead.
The second episode, Paradistopia, revolves around a city where intelligent robots fulfill the physical and emotional needs of humans if their partners fail to meet their expectations or desires in bed.
Buddha Data is the title of the third part that chronicles a Techno-Monk, an AI being that preserves and upholds the teachings of Buddhism. The Techno-Monk is bound to challenge the traditional faith and monasteries.
The final story, Octopus Girl, is about a city that gets submerged after years of rainfall. The population faces unprecedented troubles, and octopuses become their only beacon of hope.
The production team built various aspects of the futuristic show from scratch, including the design of the cities, clothes, and the replica of devices. Talking about the format of the show, series director Paween Purijitpanya said in an official statement:
“Each topic — cloning, prostitution, Buddhism, and the global warming crisis — thought-provoking and philosophical themes. With an anthology format, we can explore and question each issue more deeply. It’s like giving audiences the experience of watching four different movies.”
