What is the plot of Three Women?
As the title suggests, the show is about three women named Maggie, Sloane, and Lina. All the women have a complicated understanding of their sexuality and their needs, which have stemmed from past traumas or broken relationships.
Maggie accuses Aaron Knodel, her high school teacher, of having a sexual relationship with her. We meet her as she struggles to deal with the aftermath of these legal allegations.
Lina married a cold, undemonstrative man after being sexually assaulted by her classmates in her teenage years. She is presently having an affair with an old boyfriend.
Sloane is a privileged woman in an open marriage. She engages in sexual relationships with other people so that her husband can get a thrill from watching it.
Apart from these central women, the series also introduces Gia, a writer mourning her family's loss. Gia will act as the connecting link between these women, persuading them to tell their individually unique stories. The women will then act as subjects for Gia's next work.
Who is in the cast of Three Women?
The series has a stellar cast lineup. Shailene Woodley stars as Gia. Woodley is an acclaimed actress who has appeared in projects like The Fault in our Stars, Divergent, Big Little Lies, and Adrift. Gia's story mirrors Taddeo's journey of researching and writing this book.
DeWanda Wise will play Sloane. Her most notable role includes Spike Lee's Netflix comedy-drama series She's Gotta Have It.
Betty Gilpin will play Lina. She is a three-time Primetime Emmy Award nominee for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her Netflix series GLOW.
