Barney Stinson was one of the most beloved characters of How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM). His character is charming and comic at the same time, and impressing girls comes smooth to him. However, the public opinion says such a rizz would never work in real life, as Stinson's traits are exaggerations meant to serve comedic purpose on the show.

In one of the scenes at a restaurant, Barney acts panicky in front of a girl, following which the staff call the paramedics. He only reveals later in a smooth monologue that he felt she would have to be injured because she "fell straight out of heaven."

The comments section of the scene is filled with comparison with real life, and how such a circumstance could lead to severe consequences in real life, and would certainly never impress a girl. Read on to know in detail about how the fans feel about the scene in particular, and character's over-the-top pick-up lines in general in HIMYM.

Here is how the fans feel about Barney Stinson's pick-up lines in HIMYM

When a beautiful girl walks into the restaurant, Barney Stinson stands up and acts panic-stricken. While the girl questions his behaviour, he shouts and calls for an ambulance right away. When a staff member intervenes, without revealing much, Barney exaggerates further and orders her to call 9-1-1 or the paramedics. Then, he explains that the girl has had a terrible fall and must be injured seriously.

The paramedics arrive and starts checking the girl when Barney throws his cheesy line:

"Really.. cause I could swear you fell straight out of heaven, ... angel."

The paramedics and the entire staff, as well as the customers, cheer for him and demand that the girl give him her number in HIMYM, while she blushes and smiles. The scene has fans commenting and emphasising the impracticality of the scene in real life. Actually, many point out, Stinson could end up in jail for such an act.

Here is what some of the comments read:

However, in the scene, it is later revealed that Barney actually hired a couple of fake paramedics as well as the waitress to play along. A character like Stinson, however, adds fun to the show. The comment by Robin (played by Cobie Smulders) during the scene becomes relatable:

"You know the more I see this, the less convinced I am that it is the greatest pickup line of all time."

This is what probably fans must have felt while watching the scene, and its utter impossibility in the real world. However, Barney's pickups were not just over the top but also problematic. In Season 1, Barney convinces Ted to ditch their usual routine and seek adventure. What started as a simple trip to the airport to "pick someone up" ends up with them taking a flight to Philadelphia. There, they witness the Liberty Bell, and Barney comes up with a thought of licking it, as that could be 'legendary,' for Barney.

And when he meets a girl in there, his idea of an ideal pick-up line in HIMYM is:

"I wanna lick you all over... like the Liberty Bell."
