When it comes to time, Shark Tank investor Kevin O'Leary, fondly known as Mr. Wonderful, takes a unique approach—he wears not one but two watches! You might wonder why this makes sense.
For Kevin, it’s all about respecting time. By keeping track of different time zones on each wrist, he ensures he never loses sight of the moments that matter, whether for himself or his investors. This reflects his commitment to time management and meaningful connections with his investors.
During an interview with Chris Cuomo on July 23, 2024, the Shark Tank mentor revealed the mystery behind wearing two watches. The American television Journalist and YouTuber Chris Cuomo directly jumped to Kevin's choice of wearing two watches and asked, "Two watches, why?"
Kevin O'Leary promptly explained his rationale behind carrying two watches and remarked, pointing towards both his wrists:
"New York time and Abu Dhabi time. This is where all the money is in the world, and this is the capital of capital. I do a lot of business over there. A lot, and I need to know what time it is because I keep waking up my guys at ridiculous hours."
Showing his insurance skill at the same time, Kevin O'Leary proposed to Chris Cuomo that:
"I'm in the watch insurance business so I encourage you Chris to wear two watches so I can insure both for you."
Shark Tank investor Kevin O'Leary believes the watch is a "piece of art"
Those who follow the Instagram account of Shark Tank investor Kevin O'Leary must be well-versed in his love of watches and how much he adores collecting all sorts of watches: expensive, quirky, budget-friendly, you name it.
Explaining his reasons for wearing two watches, he threw some light on why watches could be considered a "piece of art" to Chis Cuomon during an interview. He acknowledged that in these modern times, the utility of a watch could easily be replaced with smartphones, but it is hard to take away the beauty of a nice watch.
"Nobody needs a watch. You can use your cell phone to get a much better accurate time read but these are now considered pieces of art, particularly on certain brands and they have been appreciating better and more than the S&P 500 over the last 7 years," said Shark Tank investor.
He then explained that collecting watches is similar to collecting "modern art" because they are transportable to Asian clients as well, leading to creating a valuable market that is on the appreciating side.
Shark Tank Season 16 airs on Fridays on ABC.
