Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 ended with a cliffhanger. Mayor Fisk has dropped his mask and is now openly Mayor Kingpin. He has successfully imposed martial law in New York, banned masked vigilantes, and imprisoned all of his opponents in a cage in an undisclosed location, including the billionaires who opposed him, like Jack Duquesne/the Swordsman.
As of now, the only ones who oppose Fisk who are not imprisoned are Matt, Karen, Cherry, Jossie, Angie Kim, and some unnamed cops. But as Matt said in the Daredevil: Born Again finale, he needs an army to bring down Fisk. Thus, it would be prudent if Marvel brings back the other Netflix Marvel characters.
But, the one character who may not join Matt's "army" is Frank Castle/the Punisher. That's because Matt Murdock still doesn't want to take a life, while Castle sees killing the opponent as the default. But as the post-credit scene of Daredevil: Born Again suggested, Frank may lead a separate force to end Fisk once and for all.
These MCU characters may join Matt's army in Daredevil: Born Again, Season 2:
Here are all the possible candidates for Matt Murdock/Daredevil's army in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2:
- The rest of the defenders
The Defenders are the first likely candidates on the list of heroes that could join Matt in his quest to bring down Wilson Fisk's rule. Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Danny Rand (who possesses some sort of mystical pistols) know Matt the most, apart from Karen and Cherry. Plus, despite a mixed bag of the first season of The Defenders, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones are well-liked by fans, and some might be fine with giving Finn Jones' Danny Rand another chance, too.
Thus, bringing the remaining three Defenders back in Born Again Season 2 might be a sensible decision.
- Hawkeye (Kate Bishop)
Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop Hawkeye became the protégé of Clint Barton in Hawkeye. As of now, Kate and Kamala might've teamed up to form a Champions or Young Avengers team, she may return to New York. Kingpin has imprisoned Jack Duquesne, the man who was her mother's fiancé. Thus, Kate might return to help Jack. Also, Kate defeated Kingpin in a fist fight in the Hawkeye finale.
Thus, she and The Swordsman might join Matt in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2.
- White Tiger (Angela Del Toro)
We see Camila Rodriguez's Angela Del Toro near a group of AVTF officers in the Daredevil: Born Again finale. If she possesses her uncle's mystical amulet, we may see Angela suit up as the second White Tiger. Jeffrey Nachmanoff, the director of the fourth episode of Born Again, revealed that he shot an alternate version of the hospital scene from that episode that would've shown the amulet glowing. He said:
"I remember shooting that little sequence with the amulet. As a director I did a few different versions then you send it off to the editorial. I can't remember what in the final version which way we did it. But I did one where it lights up in the bag, one where it stays dark. We did it as like the idea was that it was when the young girl comes, it senses her so it like started illuminating."
- Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel
The fifth episode featured an unlikely team-up: Yusuf Khan and Matt Murdock. Yusuf was introduced as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel's father in the Ms. Marvel series. Yusuf and Matt collaborate to beat the bank robbers, and they manage to do so successfully. At the end of that episode, Yusuf invites Matt to a family dinner at the former's house in New Jersey.
This felt like a set-up for a possible collaboration with Kamala and possibly even Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel.
- Colleen Wing
The current Iron Fist of the MCU is not Danny Rand, but rather Colleen Wing. Plus, actress Jessica Henwick has also expressed hope for a return to the MCU. In fact, in a THR interview, the actress revealed that she was considered for the role of Xialing in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. But she refused the role for a possible future return as Colleen Wing:
“If I did [Shang-Chi], I would effectively be putting Colleen to bed. It wasn’t the main factor, but it definitely came up in conversation. I love Colleen. She changed my life. Of course, if I was given the opportunity to revisit her, I would, but I just don’t know how likely that is. Charlie [Cox] knew about that opportunity years ago. He already knew it was happening. I think I would have heard by now if there were any plans with Colleen.”
- Misty Knight
We meet Misty Knight for the first time in the first season of Luke Cage. But one of the major things that happened to her character was in The Defenders, where he loses her hand. But, she does get a bionic arm from Rand Enterprises, and Luke Cage Season 2 follows her trying to adjust to this new arm. This bionic arm might be useful in Matt's war to take New York back from Fisk's control in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2.
- Maya Lopez/Echo
Despite seeing Wilson Fisk as a surrogate uncle and having a close relationship with him, Maya turned on Fisk when he had her father killed. In the finale of Echo, Maya attempted to "cure" Fisk of his past trauma. But what she did was set Fisk up on the path we see play out in Daredevil: Born Again. Thus, Maya might return to sort out what she possibly did.
- Moon Knight
Moon Knight feels like a long shot because in the MCU, the character was last seen in London, but in the comics, the character is supposedly based in New York. Furthermore, he is among the first vigilantes who joined Daredevil's side during the latter's crusade against Mayor Fisk on the pages of Marvel Comics.
It's also worth remembering that Marvel Television's Brad Winderbaum, in an interview with comicbook.com, revealed that while there were no plans for a second season of Moon Knight, as there were other plans for Jake Lockley, Steven Grant, and Marc Spector. He said:
"So I think Marvel Television has happened in waves, and I think Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future. And moving forward our priorities have shifted. We’re making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television. I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road."
Hence, a possible appearance in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 could be part of those plans.
