The White Lotus Season 3 took us on a virtual trip to Thailand. This season was full of foreshadowing moments and layered characters. The plot kept teasing us with “wait for it” moments.
We saw the Ratliffs' struggles. Timothy came so close to making a dark decision. But decided against it just in time. Still his youngest accidentally ingests the poison but survives. Chelsea and Rick didn't make it. But they got what they always wanted. They were together till the very end. Jaclyn, Laurie and Kate also got their closure and bid a bittersweet goodbye to The White Lotus resort in Thailand.
Belinda from Season 1 popped up in Thailand this time. Joining her was her son Zion. The two also have quite a significant change in this season. And when they finally leave the resort, the credit song that plays as they sail away carries more meaning that you might have actually thought.

The White Lotus Season 3: Belinda’s got backup
Belinda makes a surprise comeback in The White Lotus Season 3. But she’s not alone. Her son, Zion, joins her soon. And he proves to be more than just company on this tropical trip. Zion plays a pretty crucial role this season. And thanks to him, Belinda ends up with a hefty little payout.
Belinda sees a familiar face when she first arrives at The White Lotus resort. She is sure it is Greg. Tanya's Greg. The same Tanya McQuoid who, in Season 1, clung to Belinda for emotional support in Hawaii. Until she met Greg and slowly drfted away from her.
Belinda hasn’t forgotten any of it. She has not forgotten the promise Tanya never kept and definitely not Greg’s face. But the man denies everything when she confronts him. He even says his name’s Gary.
Belinda starts digging. One quick search and she finds out that Tanya had been murdered and the cops were searching for her ex-husband for questioning. It is clear that Greg’s been dodging the cops ever since and hiding in Thailand.
She even goes to the front desk to raise her concerns. But no one helps. That is until Greg himself shows up again and invites her to a fancy party at his massive mansion.
"Gary” basically offers her hush money at the party. He spins this tale about how Tanya would have wanted this as she really wanted to open that welness center for Belinda. He proposes they “help each other out.” Translation: take the money, keep quiet and forget everything.
That's where Zion comes in. He tells his mother that it's an opportunity for them to make something out of that money. He tells her to accept the deal but she is confused and feels that it would be morally wrong for her to take that money.
She also says that the money would not even be enough to open a welness center. Zion then tells her to negotiate the deal and ask for more. Chances are Greg would agree as he is desperate to keep a lid on the Tanya story.
Belinda finally comes around and the mother-son duo end up going to Greg's mansion again. There we see Zion using his MBA skills as he negotiates the deal for his mother. He manages to ask for $5 million.
Belinda is shocked to see the money deposited to her bank the next day. She decides to leave the resort soon. Zion asks her about her dream of opening a wellness center but it seems like Belinda is no longer interested in that as of now.
The White Lotus: There’s more to the credits song of the Season 3 finale than you think
Belinda and Zion are happily sailing away from The White Lotus resort. That's when the song starts playing. “Nothing From Nothing” by Billy Preston. It's catchy and funky but it’s more than just that. It’s basically a mirror to Belinda’s entire storyline.
The lyrics go:
“Nothin’ from nothin’ leaves nothin’. You gotta have somethin’ if you wanna be with me.”
Now Belinda’s been through this before. She gave everything to Tanya back in The White Lotus Season 1. She gave her time, her energy, her emotional support and got nothing in return. No spa, no promises kept, just disappointment. This time around she’s not letting history repeat itself.
Zion is the one who pushes her to recognize her worth and demand more. If Greg wants silence, it better come with a price and not some chump change. They walk away with $5 million.
And then there’s this line from the song:
“I’m not tryin’ to be your hero, ‘cause that zero is too cold for me.”
It’s like Belinda is finally done being the good guy if it leaves her empty-handed. She’s done being the emotional support act in someone else’s tragic story. She's tired of being the one holding everyone else up while getting nothing back. She chooses herself in The White Lotus Season 3.
So when Zion asks about the wellness center and she just laughs and says:
"Can't I just be rich for five f*cking minutes?"
That’s her reclaiming her narrative. She’s walking away with something in hand for once.
That final shot of them sailing away in The White Lotus Season 3 finale with Billy Preston’s voice trailing off behind them is Belinda finally cashing in on the emotional debt life owed her.
