The third season of HBO's The White Lotus is all set to release soon and fans are ready to dive back into another exotic Four-Seasons hotel, this time in Thailand. The series revolves around travelers visiting The White Lotus for a rejuvenating break from their lives, and the plot(s) unfold as we explore each character and their intricacies, making the show a comforting yet thrilling watch with all the right elements of comedy.

The highlight of the show, of course, is the stunning locations where it's shot. This year the show is taking place in Thailand, and that's reason enough to rest assured that the backdrops are going to be absolutely breathtaking. Here are the locations where The White Lotus' third season was filmed.

Which hotel was the third season of The White Lotus filmed at?

As is known, all the seasons of the show were filmed at a different Four Seasons hotel. The first season was filmed at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, Hawaii. The second season was filmed at San Domenico Palace in Taormina, a Four Seasons Hotel in Sicily. Naturally, the third season is being filmed at the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui in Thailand, a stunning resort that is known to be one of travelers' favorite spots for a cozy luxurious weekend.

Although the Four Seasons hotel is the main location where the series is set, parts of the show are also shot at The Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas, as a shot in the trailer shows Nicholas DuVernay chilling by the hotel.

Another central location the show used as a backdrop was Villa Jacinta in Choeng Mon. A spokesperson for the show confirmed this by saying,

“As White Lotus fans we were excited to hear that onefinestay’s Villa Jacinta has been used as a setting for series three. With striking cubist design and incredible views across the Gulf of Thailand, it’s a real standout property that seamlessly blends Thai aesthetic with modern sophisticated design. It has a fabulous sunken seating area, two kitchens and a series of vibrant interior gardens all designed to evoke a sense of serenity.”

Filming has also taken place in parts of Bangkok, although the names of the exact locations are not yet known.

What is the third season of The White Lotus about?

Director Mike White has previously teased that the third season of The White Lotus will be much darker in comparison to the first two and will explore Eastern spirituality and healing, featuring characters who are using the trip to the White Lotus as an escape from their grimly lives.

Talking about the guests of this season, White told Time magazine,

“They’re all in some kind of hurt,” he added of this season’s guests. “Like, they’re all dead, but they don’t know it…because it’s dealing with these existential tropes of facing into the nothingness of self [and] Buddhist themes that have life and death and ethical aspects, [the season] just got more heavy.”

The White Lotus season 3 will premiere on HBO Max on 16th February.
