The White Lotus Season 3 Episode 3 recap: Victoria Ratliff has a strange dream and Chelsea gets bitten by a snake

Keeping up with the style of its previous two seasons, The White Lotus Season 3 is also taking its own sweet time to get right into the heart of the murder mystery that the show is. Episode 3, however, has tightened the noose a bit and now almost everyone, barring a couple of characters, are possible suspects.

Given that this season of The White Lotus features a lot of greenery and nature in its raw form, it is not surprising that a snake accident like that happened in the third episode. Moreover, Victoria’s dream, with which the episode opens, is also a reminder of how this season has a lot to deal with symbolism.

Also, the fact that Bellinda spots and recognizes Greg and yet refuses to acknowledge her further adds a layer of mystery to his character. Another interesting thing this episode does is how it shows the continuation of the friendship between Jaclyn, Laurie, and Kate, which though fake, turns out to be increasingly complicated.

Victoria Ratliff dreams of a tsunami in The White Lotus Season 3 Episode 3

Episode 3 of The White Lotus Season 3 opens with Victoria dreaming of a tsunami. Her bottle of pills is in her hands and the background is the Ratliff house. However, before the dream is finished, Victoria wakes up.

When she talks about her dreams to her family over breakfast, Piper offers some insightful comments, saying,

"It could be some kind of warning. They might not predict the future, but they’re a window into something. I mean, every symbol has a meaning. It’s the collective unconscious."

This essentially nudges the symbolic aspect of the show, and given the kind of situation that the Ratliffs are going through, a tsunami seems to be a fitting symbol of the upcoming storm looming large on their horizon.

This episode also shows Tim getting multiple calls from the FBI which eventually leads him to taking away the phones of his family members and switching them off, essentially making the whole family unavailable online.

Chelsea gets bitten by a snake in The White Lotus Season 3 Episode 3

Rick continues doing his own thing in this episode, also, and after convincing Sritala Hollinger for a meeting, goes out to score some weed and Chelsea accompanies him. As Rick gets high on the weed he manages to find, the duo get into a snake show.

However, the chips eating reptiles do not amuse Rick, and being high on weed, he feels rather paranoid. Not knowing what else to do, Rick does something too drastic as he lets some snakes escape.

This leads to a fiasco and unfortunately, Chelsea gets bitten by a venomous Cobra. She has to be taken to a hospital and though she comes back without having to suffer too much, this accident marks her second deadly experience.
