The Wheel of Time is all set to hit the screens again. The fantasy drama is returning with its third season on Prime Video soon. Based on Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson’s novel series of the same name, the show is set in a world where only women possess magical powers.
One of the women, Moiraine, takes five people along with her on an adventurous journey, believing that one of them could be the key to saving the world, as per a prophecy. Things are expected to get more intense for the group as the fight between Light and Dark reaches a breaking point in the upcoming season.
Prime Video has set The Wheel of Time season 3 release date as March 13, 2025. Here are all the details you should have about the new installment, including its plot and cast.
The Wheel of Time Season 3 release date
The Wheel of Time Season 3 is all set to premiere on Prime Video on Thursday, March 13, 2025. The streamer has not yet officially announced the number of episodes or release schedule of the new season; however, it is expected to feature eight episodes like the previous installments.
The Wheel of Time Season 3 Plot
The Wheel of Time Season 3 picks up after Rand’s win against Ishamael. The season is based on The Shadow Rising, the fourth book in the novel series. It follows Rand, Egwene, Mat, and Perrin as they face new and deadly challenges.
Rand travels to the Aiel Waste desert to accept his role as the Car’a’carn, the leader that Aiel has been waiting for. Meanwhile, Perrin goes back to the Two Rivers, where she has to face off some old enemies.
Rand’s bond with Lanfear is expected to grow stronger, which makes it hard for him to stay on the side of the Light. With the increase in power, he starts to change which leaves his friends and allies worried.
At the same time, Moiraine and Egwene, who started as a teacher and a student, now have to work together to stop Rand from falling into the Dark side. On the other hand, the Forsaken are freed after Ishamael’s death and pose a dangerous threat. Meanwhile, the White Tower is split and Lanfear is pulling the strings, which causes chaos everywhere.
The Wheel of Time Season 3 cast
The new season is going to feature a mix of returning and new cast members. The returning cast includes Rosamund Pike as Moiraine Damodred, Josha Stradowski as Rand al’Thor, Zoë Robins as Nynaeve al’Meara, Daniel Henney as al’Lan Mandragoran, and Madeleine Madden as Egwene al'Vere.
The third season marks the addition of some talented new actors, including Shohreh Aghdashlo, who will play Elaida do Avriny a’Roihan, a member of Aes Sedai; Olivia Williams, who will portray Margase Trakand, Andor’s queen; and Nuno Lopes, who will star as Lord Gaebril, the queen's consort.
