Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time is all set to be back with its third season. Premiering on March 13, 2025, this season will be based on the book The Shadow Rising, which means the makers are skipping the book The Dragon Reborn, which could be revisited later.
The Wheel of Time is based on the 14 book series written by Robert Jordan of the same name. Each season adapts one book, and the first two seasons have adapted The Eye of the World and The Great Hunt.
While the show remains more or less faithful to its source material, it also takes creative liberties to tell the story in a way it seems fit for the screen. That explains the skipping of a book to make the third season. As The Wheel of Time Season 3 premieres in a day, now is a good time for a quick recap of Season 2.
The following article contains spoilers from The Wheel of Time Season 2.
Moiraine gets back her powers and bonds with Lan in The Wheel of Time Season 2
In the season 1 finale of The Wheel of Time, it seemed that Moiraine had lost her access to One Power. She kept believing the same for a larger part of season 2. However, Lan then realized that she did not lose her power, and instead there was a blocker that caused the problem.
Rand, using his own access to the One Power, helped to destroy this barrier, and as a result, Moiraine got back her access. She then helped Rand with her now regained powers to defeat Ishamael.
Moreover, since Moiraine initially thought that she did not have her powers anymore, she had cut off Lan as well. However, with the events of season 2 giving her access to her powers again, the finale sees Moiraine and Lan bonding again.
Hopper died in The Wheel of Time Season 2
One of the most unfortunate deaths that happened in The Wheel of Time Season 2 is that of Hopper, who got killed by Geofram Bornhald. Hopper was Perrin's friend, and his murder naturally made him angry, and he avenged his friend.
Geofram’s son, Dain Bornhald, saw the whole thing, and he shouted “Two Rivers” in response, which is going to be an important plot point in season 3. Moreover, some serious conflict can also be expected to be happening between the White Cloaks and Perrin.
Ishamael is defeated by teamwork in The Wheel of Time Season 2 finale
By the end of The Wheel of Time Season 2, Ishamael is finally defeated, unlike the happenings of season 1. This happened majorly because of teamwork, as everyone, including the new characters introduced in the second season like Aviendha and Elayne, fought together to defeat him.
A lot of other things also happen during the finale as Renna is killed by Egwene and Mat summons dead heroes from the past by blowing the Horn of Valere so that they can help with the battle happening against Seanchan. Moreover, Rand is finally revealed to be the Dragon Reborn, and season 3 will be following more on this so as to fill the gaps.
It is also revealed in the final moments of The Wheel of Time Season 2 that all Forsaken have been released, thanks to Ishamael, which obviously means a lot of trouble is coming in the way of everyone else associated with the Last Battle.
The Wheel of Time can be streamed on Prime Video.
