The Way Home Season 3: Release date, plot, cast and more about the upcoming fantasy drama

Hallmark's fantastical time-traveling series The Way Home is finally making its way to television screens with Season 3 on January 3, 2025.

The drama, reminiscent of iconic time travel shows like Outlander, follows the journey of three generations of Landry women as they learn to live together and apart while traveling to different periods in history.

The Way Home Seasons 1 and 2 became popular Hallmark staples, and the show was renewed for Season 3. But the new season had its own challenges, as fans were enraged when the platform announced that Season 3 would debut first on a streaming service rather than the usual cable.

However, fearing a complete boycott from fans, the plan was reversed and Season 3 would first debut on the Hallmark Network before arriving on Hallmark+ the next day.

What is the release date for The Way Home Season 3?

Previously, Hallmark decided that The Way Home Season 3 would first arrive on streaming rather than usual cable viewing on the new streaming service Hallmark+. However, the audience did not positively receive this news, and the platform saw backlash from fans.

Therefore, it reversed its original plan, and Season 3 will now air usually on cable first. Season 3 will debut on the Hallmark Network on January 3, 2025, at 9 pm EST. The episodes will then be available to stream on Hallmark+ the next day.

Who is returning for The Way Home Season 3?

While there is no official news about the show's cast returning for Season 3, it is expected that all the major actors will return for Season 3.

In addition, shortly after Season 3 was confirmed, new actors were said to join the cast in Season 3 as teen versions of the characters. This includes Alex Hook as Teen Katherine, Julia Tomasone as Teen Delilah, Jordan Doww as Teen Colton, and Devin Cecchett as Teen Evelyn.

What to expect from The Way Home Season 3?

As with Season 2, which started from a time jump, showrunner Alexandra Clarke teased that Season 3 will also start with a time jump, making perfect use of the time travel theme of the show.

While no major plot points are revealed for Season 3, the events from the Season 2 finale are expected to kick-start the new season.

The finale ended with Kat kissing Elliot, hinting that romance might be on the cards for long-time best friends. But she also learns that her 19th-century lover Thomas is alive and has not been executed like she thought he was. This could complicate her feelings towards Elliot.

One of the major revelations in the finale is that Colton is also a time traveler, and the man inside the bushes in the premiere was him; this will surely be a major plot point for Season 3.

Jacob also returns to the present and is reunited with Kat as Del learns that her son is alive and living in the 19th century. Season 3 will tell what kind of a relationship they will have as they navigate the aftermath of Jacob's return.
