Netflix is preparing to launch The Waterfront. It is one of the most anticipated new drama series, slated to launch on June 19, 2025. Kevin Williamson, famed for his work on Scream and The Vampire Diaries, is one of the writers of the drama, which follows the Buckley family in the little town of Havenport, North Carolina.

For years, the Buckleys dominated both the local fishing business and the restaurant scene, but their once-thriving empire is crumbling and this is exactly what the show captures.

Holt McCallany's character Harlan Buckley is central to the narrative. Harlan must return to the family company to bring order after having two heart attacks. His son Cane (Jake Weary) and wife Belle (Maria Bello) attempt to maintain their unity in the meanwhile, but they are forced to make difficult choices that jeopardize all they have worked so hard to achieve. The future of the family may be in danger as Bree (Melissa Benoist), Harlan's daughter and a recovered addict, deals with her own personal issues.

The Waterfront is inspired by a set of true events. Most of the drama takes place against the magnificent surroundings of Wilmington and Southport, North Carolina and this location not only lends realism to the play, but it also enhances its complex, suspenseful plot.

Along with McCallany, Bello, Weary, and Benoist, the program has a strong supporting cast that includes Rafael L. Silva as Shawn, a bartender for the Buckleys, and Humberly González as Jenna, Cane's former high school girlfriend. Topher Grace, Zach Roerig, and others also appear as guest stars.
