The Voice Season 27 Episode 12 Recap - The Playoffs begin as LeAnn Rimes and Sheryl Crow join as mentors 

The Voice season 27 episode 12 dropped on NBC on April 28, 2025. The episode featured the start of the Playoff rounds, where this time, Team Ballerini and Team Adam performed.

These two judges in the big red chairs had to shortlist their contestants from five to just two. These two winners from each team will then proceed to join the live shows in the later episodes. At the end of this round, only 8 players will remain, who will enter the finale phase, soon to be crowned the winner.

In this latest episode of The Voice, mentors Sheryl Crow and LeAnn Rimes joined behind the stage to assist Team Kelsea Ballerini and Team Adam Levine, respectively, during their rehearsals.

Each team consists of 5 members right now. As for Kelsea's, the ones up for performance in this episode were Iris Herrera, Jarlen Johnston, Alanna Lynise, Tinika Wyatt, and Darius J. Team Adam had Lucia Flores Wiseman, Conor James, Kolby Cordell, Ethan Eckenroad, and Britton Moore.

Iris Herrera performed a cover of White Horse by Chris Stapleton. She featured herself in a gothic and punk outfit, which also contributed to the aesthetics of her performance. Iris is just 19 years old right now, but appreciating her voice, mentor Sheryl Crow said,

"I did not expect that huge voice to come out of your body."

Agreeing to the stance, Kelsea, who loved Iris' performance as a "rock chick," gave her a ticket to the Live round, meaning she will be advancing in the Top 8 of The Voice. The judge said,

"You just did everything that makes you you, the best you’ve ever done."

Iris had previously appeared on The Voice season 26 but was not able to join a team. However, she practiced and tried again and came back stronger this time. Talking about the same, she said,

"Last season with Fleetwood Mac 'Gypsy,' I played it safe by doing what Stevie Nicks does. I didn’t, unfortunately, get any chairs. I wasn’t authentic and original to me. [Now] I’ve got a whole new vibe and a whole new song that’s specific to me."

Alanna Lynise was up next from Team Kelsea to secure a spot for the Live Round. She did a rendition of Nobody Gets Me by SZA. The judge appreciated how hard the contestant had worked during the rehearsals to perfect her voice for the round and deliver a great performance.

The Voice Season 27 Episode 12 Recap - Team Adam Levine

Adam decided to take Lucia Flores Wiseman with him to the Live. She had sung In My Life with a sweet voice that impressed Coach John Legend. He claimed that she had a gift that would make her a major career in the future.

The second contestant from Team Levine to join The Voice Live Round was Kolby Cordell. He had decided to perform Finesse by Bruno Mars. During his rehearsals, mentor LeAnn advised him to be "playful and flirt" with his voice, especially because he is choosing an artist like Bruno Mars who also works on those themes.

After his performance, Coach Michael predicted that Kolby might go on to win the whole show.

The Voice Season 27 drops new episodes weekly on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 PM Eastern Time on NBC. Later, they can be watched via Peacock.
