"I built a business that generated $875M+ in revenue with no degree. I like to say I went to the University of Life. But that doesn't mean education isn't important. You've got to stay sharp. Keep learning. Work harder than the rest. A degree? Optional. Growth? Non-negotiable."
Shark Tank Australia's Maxine Horne shares her views on the importance of education
In a recently released Instagram Clip, Shark Tank Australia mentor Maxine Horne spoke about not having formal degrees. However, having gained knowledge from the "University of Life," she has built a business worth more than $875 million.
The video clip states that an educational degree is not necessary to be successful. But while saying that, Maxine added that:
"However, what I will say is that you do need to be smart, you do need to continue to learn, you do need to work hard, you do need to be tenacious and you do need to be dogged."
In another Instagram post released on March 2, 2025, Shark Tank Australia's Maxine mentioned how everything around us is "hard." No matter what we choose, it is going to be hard. Hence, choosing your "hard" option is a wise decision.
She captioned the Instagram post with:
"Life's hard either way. The question is—are you picking the hard that moves you forward or the one that keeps you stuck?"
The said post was about various scenarios, including being fit, being out of shape, being disciplined, having regrets, starting a business, staying broke, taking risks, playing safe, and more.
As Shark Tank's mentor stated, each of these situations was "hard." Hence, she urged the viewers to choose their "hard."
"Choose your hard. Being fit? Hard. Being out of shape? Hard. Discipline? Hard. Regret? Hard. Starting a business? Hard. Staying broke? Hard. Taking risks? Hard. Playing it safe and hating it? Hard. Everything's hard. Pick your hard - or life will pick it for you."
