While The Umbrella Academy mostly focuses on the seven Umbrellas and their quest to save the original timeline, the Netflix series also introduced another superpowered team in season 3, known as the Sparrow Academy.
Similar to the fan-favorite Hargreeves siblings, the members of the Sparrow Academy were also born on October 1, 1989, but in a different timeline and were adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves.
However, it’s important to note that the abilities of the Sparrow Academy members are not directly linked to Marigold in the series.
Jayme Hargreeves is also one of the Sparrow Academy members who has the superpower of spitting a hallucinogenic spit in the form of green venom, which helps her distract enemies.
Jayme has two venom glands inside her mouth which allow her to spit the substance and ignite fear and confusion among the attackers.
Jayme Hargreeves powers in The Umbrella Academy
Jayme Hargreeves differs from the Umbrellas and her other Sparrow Academy members through the power of hallucinogenic spit. She's one of the exciting characters in The Umbrella Academy who's seen combating and spitting venom from her mouth, mirroring the physiology of a snake when it attacks a human.
As seen in The Umbrella Academy season 3, Jayme has two venom glands inside her mouth which activate when she's about to spit the green venom.
However, Jayme has no control over what type of hallucination a person will experience. She's unaware of the visions a person is having, just as Number Five was seeing his mannequin mistress from season 1.
Jayme didn't know who she was, but her venom ignited those visions and distracted Number Five during a confrontation with Jayme Hargreeves.
Additionally, the hallucinations created by the substance only last for a few seconds, making Jayme less powerful than the seven Umbrellas.
Who plays Jayme Hargreeves in The Umbrella Academy?
American actress Cazzie David, best known for her work in Eighty-Sixed has played Jayme Hargreeves in The Umbrella Academy. David engaged fans through her comedic and witty portrayal of Jayme, making it a memorable character in the Netflix series.
Cazzie David is the daughter of Curb Your Enthusiasm creator Larry David and debuted with an episode of Hannah Montana.
What happened to Jayme Hargreeves in The Umbrella Academy?
Despite being an exciting character, Jayme Hagreeves' story ended in The Umbrella Academy season 3, episode 3 titled Pocket Full of Lightning. She was killed by Harlan Cooper's blast, which disfigured her and Alphonso. During the last scenes of the episode, Jayme is seen confronting the Umbrellas at Hotel Obsidian.
Following the confrontation, Jayme and Alphonso almost initiated the attack on Allison, Diego, Luther, and Viktor, but Harlan Cooper showed up on time and released a powerful blast from his chest.
Since Cooper's blast was extremely intense and powerful, it disfigured Jayme and Alphonso's faces, erasing them forever from the world. This marked the end of Jayme Hargreeves in The Umbrella Academy, as she was never seen afterward in other timelines.
