The first look at AMC's The Talamasca is finally here, and they are 'always watching.' Anne Rice's Immortal Universe is finally getting a third show after Interview With The Vampire and Mayfair Witches.
Anne Rice is an author known for her series of gothic novels The Vampire Chronicles. Two of these novels have already been adapted into series by AMC, and the third series will dwell even further into her fictional universe.
The third installment will focus on the Order of Talamasca, which is a secret society of supernatural detectives aimed to investigate paranormal beings. Talamascas are a vital part of Rice's universe. While they have appeared in the previous two shows, mainly Tongayi Chirisa’s Ciprien “Cip” Grieves in The Mayfair Witches, the show will expand on their lore within this supernatural universe.
The Talamasca was announced in April 2023, and while there has been no recent news about the show, it was reported that shooting for Season 1 will begin in October 2024.
Considering this, it can be expected that the show will be released somewhere by Fall 2025, just in time for this year's spooky season.
The second show in the series, Mayfair Witches, has released its Season 2 recently.
More on AMC's The Talamasca in our story.
First look at AMC's The Talamasca
Anne Rice's Immortal Universe's Mayfair Witches Season 2 was released on January 5, 2025, and just a day after that, the production shared a short teaser for The Talamasca on Interview with the Vampire's X page.
While the 10-second clip doesn't reveal much, it offers the first look at Downton Abbey's Elizabeth McGovern as Helen, who says, 'We watch the Witches', before she is interrupted by electronic crackling, and the video cuts off. The teaser ends with a text saying, 'We are always watching.'
Who is in the cast of The Talamasca?
The cast details for the show are scarce, but a few names have been confirmed. As seen in the teaser, McGovern was confirmed as one of the cast members who will play the role of Helen, a superior member of the Order of Talamasca, who will recruit new members.
Glitch actor Nicholas Denton will play the role of Guy Anatole, one of the new members who Helen will recruit. Being a new recruit, Guy must understand and keep up with the supernatural world he has entered.
Prison Break fame William Fichtner will play the role of Jasper, an antagonist in the show who wants to misuse Talamasca's abilities for his own good and to gain ultimate power. Maisie Richardson-Sellers has recently joined the cast as Olive, Guy's handler.
What is The Talamasca about?
Although Talamascas have already appeared in the first two shows, they are not unknown to Rice's audiences. The show will primarily focus on them, their workings, and their world of maintaining order between the supernatural and humanity.
The Order of Talamasca is an entity with agents who are supernatural detectives recruited to investigate, observe, and monitor supernatural beings like vampires, witches, and werewolves.
After Cip Grieves, the show will introduce more Talamasca agents in Rice's universe.
