The Simpsons writer Sam Simon's ex-wife, Jennifer Tilly, is a new cast member of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and attributes her success to her ex-husband. An established actress and professional poker player, Tilly is known for her distinctive voice and comedy.

Her most notable success in film was her supporting role as Olive Neal in Bullets Over Broadway (1994), for which she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

The 66-year-old opened up about her divorce from Sam Simon on the December 3 episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, as the other housewives shared their experiences with their former spouses.

"It takes a really long time to get over a divorce, My ex-husband was Sam Simon, who [co-created] The Simpsons. I was married to him for seven years. We were together for about 10 years, and then when we got divorced, I got a piece of The Simpsons in the divorce settlement."

Jennifer Tilly opens up about the settlement price from The Simpsons after their divorce

Tilly, 66, was married to Simon from 1984 to 1991. In a recent episode of the show, she revealed how her ex-husband's creation contributed significantly to her wealth.

Her estimated net worth of $40 million comes from The Simpsons royalties, acting, reality TV, and poker winnings. This comes as a surprise to her fans, many of whom have commented on her unexpected windfall from Simon's success.

Tilly's claim to a share of The Simpsons royalties stems from their divorce, which entitled her to a share of Simon's earnings. Simon, who died in 2015, reportedly earned up to $10 million a year from the show, thanks to his original contract and the royalties he secured when he left the show in 1993.

Legal claims may still be made after Simon's death, but Tilly's stake in The Simpsons remains an integral and essential part of her estate. What Tilly has now revealed on RHOBH is that sometimes unknown treasures, such as a stake in a famous program, can catapult you from financial distress to greatness.

Tilly is no ordinary reality star, but a financially empowered one who balances acting with sound business decisions.
