The Rookie Episode 2 reveals that Seth's cancer might be coming back
Seth is training under Lucy Chen and is determined to assume LAPD's responsibilities but is also vulnerable in episode 2 of The Rookie. At the beginning of the episode, Seth gets 1 second late for the roll call and is called out by his superiors. In addition to this, after a shooting, he forgets to get the license plates of the fleeing vehicle. As a result, Grey doubts his capability to be an officer.
Lucy decides to confront Seth about the same, and Seth trusts Lucy to reveal concerning news. Seth was diagnosed with cancer 4 years ago with a grim chance of surviving. He somehow beat the illness, but after his last blood report that comes as "irregular," he is concerned that the cancer has come back. He also shared that he was late for the roll call because he had a doctor's appointment.
What else happens in The Rookie Episode 2, season 7
The case in episode 2 is centered around a vigilante and LAPD's copycat who goes by the name "The Watcher." He captures and restrains some criminals, leaving them for the police to handle. But as the season progresses, their approach becomes more violent when they shoot a gang member in broad daylight, eventually blurring the lines between justice and recklessness.
From the LAPD, Nyla, Angela, Tim, and Miles set up a plan to catch him and succeed. After this, he admits he is a former cop willing to protect his neighborhood. On enquiring about the shoot, he denies shooting anyone. Another shooting takes place, and the team realizes that both the victims are connected to the murder case of a teenage girl, Sienna.
On the other hand, Celina passes the Plain Clothes Day. It is a test that the rookies go through, in which their training officer observes them wearing normal clothes. While Nolan, who is in the first year of training, does a decent job with a scope to get better.
Nyla's husband, James, organizes a dinner meeting of community activists to discuss the recent corruption scam in LAPD that Nyla hesitates to attend. Therefore, tension rises as the episodes reflect on some crucial personal and professional struggles of the officers.
