One of the funniest comedies currently airing on HBO is The Righteous Gemstones. While the premiere episode of The Righteous Gemstones Season 4 took the audience back in history, landing them amidst the Civil War, the second episode was situated in contemporary times and brought back the entire ensemble cast of the show together for the purpose of inaugurating the storylines that can be expected to develop through the season.

The second episode of the HBO show's fourth season was titled You Hurled Me Into The Very Heart of the Seas. With Elijah having retired to the Florida Keys at the conclusion of the third Season, the church is now being run by Kelvin, Judy, and Jesse. The episode saw them gearing up for the upcoming telethon to mark the occasion of Aimee-Lee's birthday.

On the other hand, Gideo tried his hand at preaching and ended up failing miserably. Here's everything that we know about the latest episode of the HBO show.

The Righteous Gemstones season 4 episode 2: What happened at the climax of Aimee-Lee's birthday telethon?

As mentioned earlier, almost the entirety of the latest episode was gearing up towards Aimee-Lee's birthday telethon. While the other members of the church tried several times to get a hold of Eli and have him come out of retirement, the latter didn't comply at all. Eli was seen enjoying his time at the Florida Keys, surfing, fishing for marlin, and indulging in other pleasures.

The telethon itself was flamboyant and true to the character of the family. They were able to enthrall their devotees and followers, sparking the congregation with numerous gimmicks and stunts, including blowing hot air and stepping over them. One of the highlights of the event was that, which came towards the end. Jesse, Kelvin, and Judy had planned to deploy jetpacks and fly over the congregation. Despite having everything they needed, the jetpacks malfunctioned multiple times, and it was quite a laughter riot to see the three characters getting indisposed in their angel costumes.

Regardless of the hiccups, the jetpacks surprisingly work well during the actual telethon, and the three of them end up flying over the assembled crowds. Jesse decided to take it up a notch higher when he used his jetpack to fly above Kelvin and Judy and reached the disco mirror ball on the ceiling.

Gideon's preaching isn't up to the mark

The latest episode of The Righteous Gemstones Season 4 also revealed that Gideon was given the opportunity of preaching a sermon at a Wednesday morning service. This was in keeping with his prolonged wish to enter the life of preaching in the footsteps of his grandfather. Gideon, however, fumbled while preaching and delivered a rather bad sermon. His lack of ability to preach properly came as a shock to many, especially since he was previously believed to be one of the best characters on the show.

The Righteous Gemstones airs new episodes exclusively on HBO.
