Renowned for its satirical view of televangelism, riches, and family dysfunction, The Righteous Gemstones is ready to return for its concluding chapter. The show premiered on HBO in 2019 and focuses on the lives of the decadent Gemstone family, a collective of rich and scandal-ridden religious figures.

The core of The Righteous Gemstones is Eli Gemstone, the patriarch of the family, who has created a huge religious empire. Eli has three spoiled and ambitious children, Jesse, Judy, and Kelvin, who are ready to assume the family church, the Gemstone Salvation Center.

The first season focused on scandals and family feuds, where Eli’s brother-in-law, Baby Billy Freeman, is asked to look after a new church in a shopping mall. This creates conflicts with other religious groups, igniting chaos and tensions.

Not only this, but the first season also saw the eldest Gemstone being blackmailed over a compromising video. In an attempt to cover up the situation, Jesse and his siblings end up making bad decisions.

The trouble continues in The Righteous Gemstones Season 2, highlighting power struggles and enemies. Jesse and his wife join forces with Texas-based leaders to launch a Christian-themed timeshare resort.

Since the family isn't all about religion, a journalist starts investigating the family's financial dealings. At the same time, someone from Eli's criminal past steps into their lives, followed by the Gemstones, hunted by a group of mysterious motorcycle-riding assassins.
