The release date and time of The Recruit Season 2 Episode 1

The Recruit Season 2 Episode 1 will premiere on Netflix on Thursday, January 30, 2025. The streamer usually drops new shows and films at midnight PT / 3 am ET, and The Recruit season 2 will be following the same trend.

What to expect from The Recruit Season 2 Episode 1

The episode will follow up on the shocking season 1 finale, where the former CIA asset Max was shot by her daughter in front of Owen. It will likely reveal the fate of Max, showcasing whether she survived the attack or not.

Meanwhile, the show would waste no time in assigning Owen another high-profile mission. While he will still be processing what just transpired with Max, he will be asked to travel to South Korea and work with the country’s intelligence agents.

On the mission, Owen will make some allies while going against some formidable enemies in a country he knows nothing about. The first episode will also likely introduce new characters who will take the plot forward.

Talking about how Owen would be in a troubled space in the initial moments of season 2 episode 1, series star Noah Centineo told Tudum:

“Owen’s headspace is complete chaos. He has just witnessed Max — the former CIA asset whom he almost died multiple times trying to protect — get shot by her daughter Nichka. Owen is wondering how in the hell he is going to survive the next few seconds of his life.”

What happened in the previous season of The Recruit?

The first season started with Owen Hendricks, a lawyer fresh out of law school, landing a job at the CIA’s General Counsel division in Virginia. As he adjusted to the challenging work environment, his co-workers made it hard for him to settle in.

They gave him the tedious work of sorting through letters threatening to expose sensitive CIA information. While most seemed like empty threats, one letter from Max Meladze, a former asset accused of murder, caught Owen’s attention.

Owen met Max in prison, where she demanded her freedom in exchange for documents that threatened the CIA. When retrieving the documents, he was attacked by Spanish criminals, who sought a bag of cash he had found.

Owen managed to hide the money but hesitated to help Max any further. However, after realizing the CIA’s internal politics would not favor him, he decided to keep helping Max. Throughout the season, Owen faces dangerous situations, including being tortured in Yemen, escaping kidnappers, and nearly drowning in a river.

Meanwhile, he built a partnership with Max, who was eventually freed, but her involvement with Russian and Spanish criminals led to more chaos. Owen traveled across Europe with her, where they dealt with spies, assassins, and mob bosses.

As the season ended, Owen decided he had enough of the CIA’s mess. However, before he could walk away, he was kidnapped alongside Max by Nichka, a Russian spy, who was revealed to be Max’s daughter. Nichka then shot Max, ending the season on a cliffhanger.
