Storm Reid, who played Rue's sweet and supportive little sister, Gia Bennett, on HBO's hit show Euphoria, has let everyone know she won't be coming back for the show's third season. When she talked to TMZ on January 24th, 2025, she said it's because she has a lot going on in her life, such as going to college at the University of Southern California and running her own production company. It's all about scheduling for her; there's no bad blood.

Storm's happy for the show and can't wait to tune in as a fan, just like the rest of us. This news puts an end to all the guessing games about why Gia hasn't been around for a while. Back in November 2024, Storm hinted that she might be leaving, and since then, fans have been trying to figure out the reason behind her exit. But now we know it's because she's busy with other things.

Euphoria is starting to film its third season, and it'll be hitting our screens almost four years after the second season finished.

Storm Reid, aka Gia's, absence feels significant to

Euphoria fans

Gia Bennett, played by Storm Reid, has been the heart of Euphoria. She's been a beacon of hope and strength for Rue, who's going through it, especially with everything happening to her. She's been there when Rue needed her the most, like after that scary overdose, and she's always backing her sister, trying to keep her on the straight and narrow path to recovery.

Now that we're looking ahead to Euphoria Season 3, not having Gia around is going to leave a hole in the Bennett family's interactions. But Storm Reid had to make a choice that was best for her, and according to what she said to TMZ, she's at peace.

She talked about how important school and growing in her career are to her, which is understandable. So, we're all curious to see how the show's going to handle this change and where the story will go without her being a part of it.

Reid told the outlet:

"I’m focused on my studies and producing projects that matter to me."

This makes sense, considering Zendaya's growing prominence in Hollywood, with new projects that show off her skills outside of Euphoria.

Reid leaving could also be because the show's storyline is starting to lean more towards Rue and the other main characters like Cassie and Nate. Even though we might not see as much of Gia, Reid's love for the show and her friends who are in it means there's no drama happening off-screen.

What does Storm Reid’s exit mean for Euphoria?

Storm Reid's leaving the show is a good example of how tough it can be to keep the same cast of actors together in a TV show that goes on for a long time. Even though Euphoria's been off the air for a bit because of production issues, it's coming back with a new season, and they've got to keep things just as interesting as they did, with some cast changes.

Even though we won't see Gia Bennett anymore, the main group of actors, like Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, and Alexa Demie, are all coming back, which is great for fans because it keeps things consistent. It's clear that HBO is still putting a lot of money and effort into making sure the show is good, which means we can expect more of what we've seen before.

Storm seems upbeat about her future and says she'll still watch the show, which shows she's still got love for it.
