The Perfect Couple featuring Nicole Kidman, Dakota Fanning, and other acclaimed figures from the industry in the leading roles, takes the route of most suspense dramas and leads up to a climax where the most unsuspected character is declared the killer.

The series begins with the Winburys all set to throw the biggest wedding event for Amelia and Benji Winbury in Nantucket. But their lives take a bombshell turn when Merritt Monaco's dead body is found in the morning, leaving each member of the Winbury family as a suspect.

Throughout the episodes, viewers see the Winburys being investigated for the shocking murder, and initially many might have thought that Will must be the murderer since his behavior was quite strange and suspicious.

As the series progresses it is seen that Will isn't the one who tried to make Merritt's death an accident. Other suspects included Tag since he was having an extramarital affair with Merritt and she was pregnant with his child, Tom who hated the fact that his father was cheating on the matriarch of the Winbury family, and even Isabella who was curious about the trust fund.

However, in the last episode titled That Feels Better, when the Winburys are relaxing outside in the sun, it is revealed that Abby was the murderer who first drugged Merritt and then drowned her in the water.

So, the innocent pregnant wife of Thomas, Abby Winbury, whom no one would have doubted, turned out to be the killer in The Perfect Couple. Read more to find out what the motive behind killing the bridesmaid a day before the high-society wedding on the Island was.

In the end, it was only money that mattered to Abby, leading her to eliminate Merritt from the lives of the Winburys. She was worried that her father's mistress and their unborn child would create problems in the future, so before that happened, Winbury killed Merritt Monaco in The Perfect Couple.

But before viewers were introduced to the actual killer, the series focused on notable twists and secrets about the wealthy family. The so-called perfect family has Tag Winbury who was intimate with another woman, Thomas Winbury whose dark secret about the prescription roulette and stealing medication came to light.

Additionally, Shooter Dival who was considered the best man and a dear friend to the Winburys paid a whooping amount of $300,000 to Greer, leading to speculation against a murder-for-hire plot in The Perfect Couple.

The final shocking twist showed the least doubted family member Abby Winbury being arrested in the end for killing Merritt and attempting to frame her death as an accident by excessive drinking before the wedding.

Abby's financial desperation and materialism made her a criminal as she believed the unborn child would acquire most of Tag's fortune, leaving her and Thomas with less than what she wanted.

While the series revolved around the murder mystery, it also featured Greer's secret about her past life, which was revealed at the end of the finale.

From the beginning, Greer pretended to be the perfect wife and a mother to her children, but little did anyone except Tag know that her marriage was built on lies.

She was just an escort before crossing paths with Tag, whom she met during the escort services. Greer finally decided to divorce Tag and abandon the fake high-society life before moving to the city.
