Gotham City has always been synonymous with Batman. However, HBO's new miniseries The Penguin makes a strong case. Directed by Matt Reeves, the series is a spin-off following the rise of Oz Cobb as he conspires to become the king of Gotham's crime underworld.

The Penguin is already out with its three episodes, which have been well-received by critics and audiences alike with episode 4 being released on October 13, 2024. It stars Colin Farrell in the titular role of Oz Cobb with Cristin Milioti and Clancy Brown.

The series directly follows the events after The Batman (2022). After Carmine Falcone's death, the family is looking for a successor, and Oz sees this as an opportunity to climb the ladder and become a king from a henchman.

The first three episodes established Colin's character as Oz, almost unrecognizable with his makeup transformation. His nuances to the character and sociopathic traits make one nearly forget that another person indeed plays the character.

With each passing episode, the audience is greeted with another of his antics, making him the perfect antagonist of The Penguin.

The series also stars Sophia Falcone, the famous 'Hangman' from The Batman. The series also explores the constant feud between Oz and Sophia in a power struggle to become the ultimate king of Gotham's underworld.

Release date and time of The Penguin Episode 4

The Penguin Episode 4 will release on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at 9:00 PM EST on HBO.

Episode 3 of The Penguin saw a much-awaited confrontation where Sofia confronts Oz on the latter's role in sending her to prison. The two also address their past, and Oz admits Sophia's accusations but feels no regret for them.

Things get heated when Nadia Maroni arrives at the scene. However, Oz and Sophia find their saving grace in Victor Aguilar but Oz hops in the car and orders Victor to drive away without Sophia, leaving her at the hands of Nadia.

While the ending of Episode 3 of The Penguin did suggest that Nadia Maroni or her men shot Sophia to death, it is unlikely that her character will die right in the middle of the series.

What to expect from The Penguin Episode 4?

While the gunshots at the end of The Penguin Episode 3 suggest Sophia's character's death, this will likely not be the case. As visible in the series' trailer, some scenes that have Sophia in them have yet to be aired.

The teasers for the upcoming episodes suggest that episode 4 could focus on Sophia's past and how her 'hangman' crimes weren't entirely her fault. This may also set up a storyline of how she was wrongfully accused and was sent to prison.

Plus, Episode 4 of The Penguin could explore the complicated relationship between Oz and Sophia, as the former has once again betrayed her. As a result, the audience might see Sophia become a hardened criminal.
