Finally, the gritty world of The Batman (2022) is back with The Penguin. This time, the focus is on Oswald "Oz" Cobb, also known as the Penguin. The Gotham City crime lord will be seen taking over the criminal underworld.

Created by Lauren LeFranc, this series was released on September 19, 2024. Fans are eager to plunge into the character's backstory, and cannot wait to watch the series as it unfolds.

We will see Colin Farrell continue to play the notorious Penguin in the same vein as he did in The Batman. Once more, he has undergone a dramatic transformation with prosthetics to play the character. Colin Farrell’s Penguin is quite different from the portrayal of the character in the comic book. But, his character is promisingly unique and intriguing, adding a new layer to the infamous crime lord.

Colin Farrell reprises his role as the devious crime lord, Oswald "Oz" Cobb, whose rise to power is what the series centers around. Oz was once an underdog. But like any other person, he had his goals too. Oz is determined to become the top crime lord in Gotham. Comparing his portrayal in The Batman, The Penguin shows Oz’s journey in a much more intense, detailed, and darker way.

Colin Farrell has been seen playing several eclectic roles. He is loved by fans for his performance in movies like The Banshees of Inisherin, In Bruges, Minority Report, and The Lobster. With his career spanning decades, Farrell has also been a part of shows like True Detective. His transformation into the Penguin is quite striking as he is almost unrecognizable with prosthetics and makeup.


2) Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone

The stellar cast of The Penguin is joined by Cristin Milioti, who plays the daughter of the crime boss, Carmine Falcone, known as Sofia Falcone. She is a powerful character who challenges the crime lord, Oz, as she attempts to build her own empire in Gotham. Milioti embodies this ambitious and volatile character perfectly as she adds her own touch to the criminal world of Gotham.

She is popular for her role in How I Met Your Mother. She was recently seen in Palm Springs. Milioti was also a part of The Wolf of Wall Street and Fargo.


3) Rhenzy Feliz as Victor Aguilar

Taking on the role of Victor Aguilar is Rhenzy Feliz. Victor is a young teenager who becomes Oz’s driver after they form an unlikely friendship. He is a key player in the plot because of his street smartness and loyalty to Oz.

He was in Marvel’s Runaways and played Alex Wilder in it. This role gained him widespread recognition. He also voiced Camilo in Disney’s Encanto.


4) Michael Kelly as Johnny Vitti

The underboss of the Falcone crime family is Johnny Vitti. Michael Kelly will be seen stepping into the shoes of this underboss. He was the right-hand man for Carmine Falcone, which puts him at odds with Oz.

Kelly is seen in House of Cards as Doug Stamper. He has also been a part of some major shows like The Sopranos and Black Mirror. He is a familiar face in the cast of The Penguin and crime drama fans will be delighted to see him act out his role in the series.


5) Deirdre O’Connell as Francis Cobb

Deirdre O’Connell plays the troubled and disturbed mother of Oz, Francis Cobb. Her role plays an important part in shaping Oz into the person he becomes. Through their relationship, we get a glimpse of the emotional turmoil that turns Oz into a ruthless crime boss.

O’Connell’s career includes roles in The Affair, Outer Range, and The Path.


6) Clancy Brown as Salvatore Maroni

Salvatore Maroni used to be a mob boss whose empire collapsed after he got betrayed by Carmine Falcone. Clancy Brown stars as Salvatore Maroni in The Penguin. Maroni’s return to Gotham signals trouble for Carmine Falcone’s family.

Brown is a well-accomplished actor who has voiced many cartoon characters, including Mr. Krabs in Spongebob. He is mostly known for his roles in movies The Shawshank Redemption and Starship Troopers. He was also in Dexter. His recent appearances include John Wick: Chapter 4 and Gen V.


7) Michael Zegen as Alberto Falcone

Michael Zegen plays Carmine Falcone’s son, Alberto Falcone. He further complicates Gotham City’s power struggles as he enters the scene. Alberto’s role in the Falcone family makes him a major player in the series.

Zegen has starred in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Boardwalk Empire, establishing himself as a versatile actor apt for the complex dynamics in The Penguin.


8) Mark Strong as Carmine Falcone

Mark Strong portrays Carmine Falcone in The Penguin. This powerful crime boss of Gotham was originally played by John Turturro in The Batman. However, Strong’s portrayal offers a different perspective on the character, adding the depth and complexity the character needs.

With an impressive filmography including Kingsman: The Secret Service and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Strong brings intensity to his role in The Penguin, making him a standout addition.
