After The Night Agent became a hit, Netflix renewed it just days after its 2023 debut. Fans recently enjoyed its action-packed second season by diving back into the life of Gabriel Basso as Peter Sutherland, a young FBI agent who unexpectedly fell into a high-stakes government conspiracy.

At first, Peter's job looks simple— He works in the basement of the White House, tasked with securing a phone line that rarely rings. However, the FBI Agent's life changes when the phone rings. A tech entrepreneur Rose Larkin is in grave danger and has just witnessed the murder of her aunt and uncle.

Soon after Peter answers the distressing call in The Night Agent Season 1, the thrilling story begins. At the heart of the web of conspiracies is a mysterious codename "Osprey" which is heard when Rose's uncle and aunt are about to get killed.

As the series progresses, it's revealed that Osprey's real name is Omar Zadar, a foreign leader of the People's Independence Front (PIF). The U.S. officials including Redfield and Wick view Omar as a national security threat.

Zadar is known for his history with violence and became one of the biggest mysteries in The Night Agent. When he's targeted by the U.S. officials, their first attempt fails, and Redfield along with Wick and the president’s chief of staff join forces to make it look like a terrorist attack orchestrated by Omar Zadar.

What did Omar Zadar aka Osprey do in The Night Agent?

As previously explained, The Night Agent is about Peter Sutherland uncovering layers of political conspiracies soon after receiving a call from Rose. When Peter and Rose first hear the codename, they have been trying to find out his identity and involvement in any violent attack.

Turns out, Omar is a leader of a a Balkan organization who used to plant bombs as part of his militant efforts. His past actions made Omar Zadar a controversial and polarizing figure but by the time the events of The Night Agent take place, Zadar seems to have abandoned his violent methods.

Instead, his prime goal is to become the president of his country, seeking political change by preventing violence. However, Vice President Ashley Redfield and defense contractor CEO Gordon Wick still believe Zadar would plan bombings in the future.

To ensure their safety, they avoided contacting Omar Zadar through official diplomatic channels and came up with a covert plan to kill him. As seen in The Night Agent Season 1 opening scene, the FBI agent figures out something is wrong after a man leaves a bag in the DC metro.

When Peter opens the bag, he sees a bomb inside, originally planned to eliminate Omar Zadar. Initially, Colin Worley was declared the bomber, but Ashley Redfield and Gordon Wick were the masterminds behind the attack and this wasn't revealed until the finale when Peter and his team solved the mystery.

No, despite Redfield and Wick's well-crafted plan, Osprey aka Omar Zadar makes it out alive in The Night Agent. They first attempted to kill Zadar through the bomb in the metro, but Peter Sutherland prevented the disaster.

To save themselves, Redfield and Wick frame Omar Zadar for the crime, turning the public against him. After realizing the mistake, they decide to make a second attempt on Zadar’s life and this time also targeting President Travers.

The plan was to eliminate Zadar and Travers at Camp David, but Peter, Rose Larkin, and Chelsea Arrington uncover their scheme just in time. They prevented the deadly attack, ensuring everyone's safe including Omar Zadar.

However, in The Night Agent Season 2, the focus of the show moves in a different direction and location as Peter Sutherland takes on another dangerous mission in Bangkok. The season revolves around Project Foxglove, a program linked to chemical weapons.
