The Night Agent Season 3: Will Peter's choices catch up with him in the upcoming chapter? Possibility Explored

Netflix’s hit show The Night Agent, starring Gabriel Basso is back with its season 2. Based on Matthew Quirk’s book and created by Shawn Ryan, the series follows Peter Sutherland, played by Gabriel Basso, an FBI agent who embarks on new missions while facing new challenges.

The Night Agent debuted in March 2023 on Netflix and within months became one of the most-watched series on the streaming service. While season 2 premiered on January 23, 2025, the announcement of season 3 had already been made. Furthermore, the finale episode of season 2 also provided some hints regarding Peter’s adventures in the third season.

Apart from Basso’s Peter and Lucian Buchanan’s Rose Larkin, Louis Herthem, who played Jacob Monroe, and Amanda Warren’s Catherine Weaver, who were introduced as important characters in the new season of The Night Agent, might have helped set up the storyline of season 3.

What might happen to Peter in The Night Agent season 3? explored

The Night Agent Season 2 was not an easy ride for Gabriel Basso’s Peter Sutherland as it turns out his decisions do have consequences.

In the finale episode of The Night Agent, Peter has finally gained the trust of Herthem’s character Munroe by stealing a confidential file for him from the UN. Because of this, it is speculated that Peter has been offered to become a double- agent by Warren’s Catherine which will put his life in more danger in season 3.

In season 3, he might also be tasked to infiltrate Jacob Monroe, played by Louis Herthem’s network by investigating his relationship with the new presidential candidate, Governor Hagan, played by Ward Horton.

As we have seen at the end of season 2 of The Night Agent Basso’s Peter has ended his relationship with Luciane Buchanan’s Rose Larkin to save her life from getting into more danger. In season 3, we might see Peter trying to balance his personal life while doing a dangerous mission.

Furthermore, as new characters also will be introduced in season 3, we can see Peter forming new allies and rivals, making the upcoming season more exciting.

And about season 3’s action sequences, Gabriel Basso revealed to TV Insider some exciting details about his favorite stunt which we will see in the next season. He teased:

“They let me do something that I can’t believe they let me do, and I only did it once because I think when they realized what I was doing, they shot it down immediately. But they got it on camera, and then they all ran in and were like, stop this now. I’m psyched we got away with it. I can’t tell you what it is, but it’s pretty awesome.”
