The Night Agent Season 2 dropped on Netflix on January 23, 2025. If you have finished watching the 10 episodes of the thriller, you might be wondering what could happen in the next season of The Night Agent.

Created by Shawn Ryan, The Night Agent Season 2 takes us on a new mission in Bangkok, Thailand. Gabriel Basso returns as Peter Sutherland, a spy of the top secret organization Night Agent. However, things take a wrong turn after the death of his mentor Alice (Brittany Snow) in the first mission itself. Enraged by the death of his mentor, Peter finds out that their comms have been tapped by an insider.

Peter takes things into his own hands and ventures to New York City to track the mole. We also get to see Rose, who is now a developer in AdVerse, California. With the help of facial recognition technology, Rose tracks down Peter. Over the next episodes, Rose and Peter work together to stop a bioweapon attack issued by dictator Viktor Bala.

However, Peter had to take some tough calls, which included releasing a key witness and stealing classified information from the United Nations as he joined hands with Jacob Monroe. Peter's action opens up the door for the next presidential elections. The last episode teases Peter's next mission as a double agent inside the White House in Season 3.

The finale has kept us on a cliffhanger about Rose-Peter's relationship, Monroe's next moves, the U.S. presidential elections, and Peter's role as a double agent. Let's have a look at the top 7 plotlines that need to be addressed in Season 2.

The finale of The Night Agent Season 2 has left the viewers pondering about the future of Peter and Rose's relationship. After the tumultuous Season 1, Rose and Peter didn't talk for a few months. Rose was seen recovering from the traumatic events while Peter was sent to Bangkok for a mission.

In Season 2, we see Rose working as a developer in AdVerse, California, where she developed a facial recognition application. She found Peter with the help of the app, who was on his mission to track the mole in the Night Agent's communication. Rose and Peter finally came together in the next few episodes, where they were seen stopping Viktor Bala's evil efforts. Things took a nasty turn when Rose was kidnapped and her life was threatened. Even though the duo was successful in stopping the attacks, Peter understood the nuances of his job.

In an emotional scene on the hotel's balcony, Peter bids goodbye to Rose. He was seemingly worried for the safety of Rose, whose life was threatened not just once but several times during the mission. Rose ultimately decides to go back to her job in California, where she got a promotion too. While this might seem to be the end of their relationship, there's always a chance for a reunion in Season 3.

2. Peter's Role as a Double Agent

In the finale of The Night Agent Season 2, Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) is arrested for his actions against the FBI, including stealing classified information from the UN and handing it to Jacob Monroe, the intelligence broker. At this point, Catherine Weaver, his guide, asks him to play the role of a double agent to find out more information about Monroe and his relations with Governor Hagan.

Peter's decision to agree to this role will play a pivotal role in the next season's storyline. The mission that Peter is entrusted with would require him to gain Monroe's trust and determine his relations with Hagan. It would be interesting to see how Peter would navigate his role as a spy.

3. The True Face of Jacob Monroe

Jacob Monroe emerged as a powerful person in The Night Agent Season 2. His role as a mastermind behind all the scenes raises various questions on his identity and goals. It is not news that he had played a pivotal role in Alice's death in the mission.

Monroe, the intelligence broker and the seller of classified information to the highest bidders, also has a vast network of connections. The connection spans from agencies including top government spaces like the White House. It was Monroe who skillfully made Peter release Solomon and leak classified UN information.

The Night Agent Season 3 could delve into his origins and further alliances. His connections with Governor Hagan will also be explored in the upcoming season.

4. Governor Hagan's True Mission

The viewers will also see Governor Hagan's (Ward Horton) true motive and the reason to be the U.S. President. Initially, even though it was shown that Hagan was a puppet of Monroe, his actions portray a hidden will.

Is Hagan simply Monroe's puppet, or does he have his own motives? Season 3 would explore his equation with Monroe too. With Peter playing the double role as an agent, it would be interesting to see how he would unravel Hagan's motives.

5. Chelsea's Returns for Season 3

Chelsea Arrington's reappearance in The Night Manager Season 2 finale episode already hinted towards her role in Season 3. Chelsea once was Maddie Redfield's loyal bodyguard, and now she would be seen as security for Governor Hagan. The next season would test her loyalties and might place her in difficult circumstances. Her connection with Peter might also raise conflicts as her duties might cause a hindrance to his mission.

Showrunner Shawn Ryan, while speaking to Deadline, has already clarified that Chelsea would be returning for a fresh new season. Chelsea's return will add layers of complexities for The Night Agent Season 3.

6. Rose's Future in the Series

After her split with Peter Sutherland, we will see Rose returning to California to start a fresh life. With a promotion, her job and life would only get busier. However, her development of the facial recognition AdVerse application might fall into the wrong hands.

Even though there's no official confirmation as to whether Rose will return for Season 3, it would be interesting to explore whether Rose could safeguard her application from the hands of the enemy.

7. Maddie Redfield's Motives

Maddie Redfield, the daughter of the Vice President, has proven to be a key figure in the series, often challenging the political authority. Her ruined relationship with her father and her relationship with Chelsea might create a complex dynamic.

In Season 3 we might find the rebellious daughter join hands with Peter to expose the corruption in politics. Her decisions might sway the balance of power.
