The Night Agent, one of the most-watched shows on Netflix, returned with its second season on January 23, 2025. Like the first chapter, the new season also keeps the audience hooked with its themes of action, betrayal, and redemption.

The stakes are higher than ever for Peter Sutherland this time as he has to stop a chemical weapon threat while being betrayed by his own country. At the same time, an intelligence broker is after him and pushes him to release an assassin from custody.

With no relief in sight, Peter collaborates with Noor Taheri and Rose to thwart the attack and save New York City. Here is a recap of the major plot points in The Night Agent Season 2.

The Night Agent Season 2 recap: What is Project Foxglove?

Project Foxglove is a secret CIA program through which the authorities tried to develop different chemical weapons and find ways to protect against them. Though the project was stopped, one of its weapons, KX, still existed.

The chemical becomes the focus of a major conspiracy in The Night Agent season 2. General Viktor Bala, who is accused of war crimes involving KX, used an intelligence broker named Jacob Monroe to reveal the government’s role in Project Foxglove.

Bala’s family, including his son, Tómas, and nephew, Markus, want revenge for how his country treated him. They plan to use the KX weapon in a terrorist attack on New York City.

Are Peter and his team able to stop the attack?

Peter and his team stop the terrorist attack at the United Nations building in the final episode of The Night Agent Season 2. Markus and his group are placing KX canisters in the UN’s HVAC system, but the NYPD and FBI quickly surround the building.

Rose helps identify the attackers, and the authorities end up recovering 14 canisters. However, one canister is still missing, which poses a deadly threat to the civilians. Peter and Rose track down the last canister to The Winfield Hotel, where Markus is trying to escape.

With only a few minutes left before the poison is released, Rose pulls the fire alarm to get people out of the hotel, while Peter fights Markus and frees Sloane, who was being held hostage.

To stop the attack, Peter and Rose come up with a plan to set a fire in the HVAC system to block the KX from spreading. The plan works and they stop the poison from being released just in time.

What happens to Jacob Monroe?

Jacob Monroe is a major antagonist in The Night Agent Season 2. He works as a mysterious figure in the world of intelligence, who is known for causing chaos. Early in the season, he frees Solomon, a skilled assassin, and makes Peter break into the UN to steal important information.

Since Peter is desperate to find Rose, he agrees to the mission. By the end of season 2, Monroe helps Governor Hagan win the election by giving him a hard drive with damaging information about his opponent.

He remains a dangerous character, whose relationship with Hagan and his influence over the government will likely cause more trouble in the next season.

Do Rose and Peter end up together?

The Night Agent Season 2 once again tests Rose and Peter’s relationship. After a year apart because of Peter’s missions, they reunite, but under dangerous circumstances. The two work together to unravel the conspiracy around KX and stop the attack on the UN building.

However, the mission does not leave much room for romance. By the end of the season, the two decide to part ways to focus on their own goals. Rose goes back to California to rebuild her life, while Peter continues his fight against corruption.

All episodes of The Night Agent Season 2 are streaming on Netflix.
