The Night Agent is coming back for season 2 on Netflix in 2024. The show is based on Matthew Quirk's novel, with some new twists and turns. It's about a young FBI agent who gets caught up in a deadly conspiracy at the White House.

When the show first came out on Netflix in March 2023, nobody expected it to be a big deal. However, it became the sixth most popular English-language TV season on Netflix of all time.

The Night Agent is in the final stages of production. Although there's no official release date yet, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos hinted that the show will return in late 2024. It might even be as early as this fall. According to Netflix's press site, Season 2 is "coming soon".

The Night Agent Season 2: What lies in store?

The Night Agent's first season had a complete story with a clear beginning, middle, and end. The show's creator, Shawn Ryan, planned for each season to be self-contained, with some characters returning and others leaving or joining in.

Season 1 wrapped up nicely, with the bad guys caught and Peter no longer in danger. He even got closure about his father, even if it wasn't what he wanted to hear. Rose could finally grieve for her aunt and uncle.

So, it makes sense that Season 2 will be a brand new story. Peter has accepted his mission as a night agent and will be in a new place, with new people, investigating a new case.

The new season will also explore Peter and Rose's relationship, but it won't be easy. They'll be apart since night agents work secretly and can't communicate with the outside world. Rose is heading back to California, making their relationship tough.

Which characters will be returning in the second season of The Night Agent?

There's a lot of excitement for season 2. The show was created by Shawn Ryan, who's also behind The Shield and S.W.A.T. The talented cast includes Basso, Buchanan, and Hong Chau from The Whale, who plays White House Chief of Staff Diane Farr.

Some big names are already on board for The Night Agent season 2, including new and familiar faces. While the new season will have mostly new characters and a brand new story, Gabriel Basso will be back as Peter Sutherland and Luciane Buchanan will join him as Rose Larkin.

Here are some of the cast we might expect to see in season 2 of the show.

  • Gabriel Basso as Peter Suterland
  • Brittany Snow as Alice
  • Berto Colon as Solomon
  • Teddy Sears as Warren
  • Louis Herthum as Jacob Monroe
  • Marwan Kenzari as Reza
  • Elise Kibler as Sloane
  • Dikran Tuline as Viktor
  • Arienne Mandi as Noor
  • Michael Malarkey as Markus
  • Koen Alexander as Javed
  • Navid Negahban as Abbas
  • Rob Heaps as Tomas
  • Amanda Warren as Catherine Weaver

Who are the creators behind The Night Agent Season 2?

Shawn Ryan is back on board to lead the way, along with co-producer Seth Gordon. It seems many of the same writers from Season 1 will return for Season 2, including Imogen Browder, Corey Deshon from Daughter, Tiffany Shaw Ho, and Shawn Ryan himself. As for the rest of the crew, not much is known yet, but we can expect more details soon.

All 10 episodes from Season 2 of The Night Agent will premiere on Netflix once released.
