Netflix’s upcoming conspiracy thriller, The Madness, stars Colman Domingo as the lead. He plays a media pundit who fears that he is being framed for a murder that he stumbled on.
Created by Stephen Belber of The Laramie Project and O.G. fame, The Madness is directed by Clément Virgo. The limited series is set to premiere on November 28, 2024 on Netflix.
Domingo spoke to Tudum about the plot:
“Everything about this conspiracy thriller excited me. It was a unique protagonist, one that I had never seen or experienced. Someone who has very centrist beliefs, and now they’re being thrust into the world to really hard-core believe in something and to reexamine the people that they believed were possible enemies.”
The Madness Release Date
The Madness will premiere on Netflix on November 28, 2024. The limited series is eight episodes long and will follow the typical pattern of release on Netflix with all eight episodes dropping together.
The limited series promises to make the audience contemplate the core questions that the show asks:
“How did we get here? What are we going to do about it now? And how are we going to get some sanity in our future?”
The Madness Plot
The Madness follows Muncie Daniels (Domingo) as a political consultant who has turned into a TV pundit and might have lost his way in life. While taking some time off in the Poconos to write his novel, he stumbles upon the murder of a popular white supremacist and unfortunately gets framed for the crime.
The updated official synopsis from Netflix for The Madness reads:
“In THE MADNESS, media pundit MUNCIE DANIELS (Domingo) must fight for his innocence and his life after he stumbles upon a murder deep in the Poconos woods. As the walls close in, Muncie strives to reconnect with his estranged family – and his lost ideals – in order to survive.”
Cast of The Madness
Colman Domingo leads The Madness as the protagonist Muncie Daniels. He is famous for his work in projects like Fear the Walking Dead, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, etc.
Joining Domingo is another bunch of talented actors. This includes:
- Marsha Stephanie Blake of Orange Is the New Black fame as Elena Daniels
- John Ortiz of Silver Linings Playbook fame as Franco Quinones
- Gabrielle Graham of Possessor fame as Kallie
- Tamsin Topolski of What You Wish For fame as Lucie Snipes
Stephen Belber, the creator of The Madness also serves as co-showrunner along with VJ Boyd, executive producer.
Director Clement Virgo has under his belt, other hit Netflix projects like, Dahmer and The Get Down. He has also worked on HBO classic The Wire, Billions, Empire, and many other acclaimed projects.
Peter Chernin and Clement Virgo also serve as the producers for The Madness. Kaitlin Dahill and Jenno Topping are also executive producers.
