J. R. R. Tolkien’s work is being presented in a never-seen-before avatar as an animation film in The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim. The plot is set 183 years before the events of Peter Jackson's original live-action LOR trilogy and depicts a scarcely known chapter from Middle-earth’s history.

Based on the appendices of Tolkien's novel series, the upcoming fantasy film follows Helm Hammerhand, the King of Rohan who has to fight a war against Dunlendings, an army of wild mortal men who threaten his kingdom. The project is billed as a prequel to the LOTR trilogy, with a couple of original cast members reprising their roles as voice actors.
