Netflix's The Later Daters Season 1 aired its debut episode on November 29, 2024. The show follows six single "baby boomers" who are taking a chance at finding their partner. Michelle Obama produced the docu-series, which features singles, some of whom haven't been in the dating gate for over a decade.
The show features singles going on various blind dates with their potential partners. To help them navigate the "modern dating landscape," they have their close friends, children, and a certified expert, Logan Ury. Her sole mission is to help the Later Daters to find their partner.
Netflix describes the show as,
"It's time to brush up on your 21st-century online dating etiquette. Executive produced by Michelle Obama, The Later Daters is a new docuseries that follows singles in their 50s, 60s, and 70s as they try for their second (or third, or fourth) chance at love."
The Later Daters Episode 1: Singles introduction and more
Netflix's The Later Daters premiered recently and introduced the singles in its debut episode. The docuseries also features a dating coach, Logan Ury. Netflix describes the dating expert as:
"She offers the singles realistic dating goals and expectations while also encouraging them to relish the unexpected, joyous moments that come with meeting new people."
The show's first episode, Here's to Love!, introduced the singles Anise, 62, Suzanne, 63, and Nate, 56 - and their first meeting with dating coach Logan, followed by their first dates.
The Later Daters: Suzanne and her daughter meet Logan Ury and her first date with Frank
Logan Ury, who describes herself as a dating coach and "not a matchmaker," went to Suzanne's house. Suzanne revealed that she was an Optometrist. She got emotional while opening up about her late husband, Chris.
"Suzanne found what many people in their lives never find, which is this one great love. And so for Suzanne, it's really going to be about understanding that maybe what she's looking for now is more of companionship or a travel partner," shared the coach.
Suzanne then went on her first blind date, which her daughter Allison was excited about. The date was with Frank, 63, an attorney. They talked about their work, getting their eyes checked, and many other things.
While Frank thought she was "classy and pretty, " the female participant referred to him as a "fun guy." After kissing Suzanne on the cheeks, Frank asked for her number. Soon, Suzanne's daughter, Allison, came to pick her up.
Suzanne and Allison video-called Logan to share their excitement, as she had a really good time during her date with Frank.
"You would be so proud of me as a student, Logan," shared Suzanne.
Later, Suzanne received a message and a friend request from Frank. However, she said she wasn't sure about the second date.
The Later Daters: Anise and Logan's first meeting, followed by her first date with George
Logan then went to Anise's house, where she revealed about her high school sweetheart turned husband. She mentioned an on-the-job accident where he passed away. Anise asked for help for her "self-sabotage" nature, as described by other people.
"My first impression of Anise is that she's really attractive, really full of life, and really successful. She's still trying to figure out what's her place in the world. And I want her to get more real, but I also understand why that doesn't feel safe for her," confessed Logan.
Anise got ready for her first blind date, where she had "concerns." However, she told the cameras that she was excited. She shared about putting Logan's dating advice "into practice."
Her first blind date was with George, 60, a retired nuclear security individual. He referred to Anise as "his kind of beautiful." While George seemed to have a good time during their date, Anise didn't feel the same. Before their date could go any further, the episode ended.
The Later Daters: Logan meets Nate and his first date with Latreecia - Explored
Logan went to Nate's house, which she found "very clean", whereas she described the participant as "very extreme."
"Nate presents as a very extreme person. He has the military thing. He has his fraternity thing. His house was so clean. In many ways, this is just a very buttoned-up person. Will this guy let me in?" shared Logan.
When Logan asked for his dating history, Nate mentioned having a daughter with his former girlfriend, Jackie. As the male cast member mentioned, Jackie had become his best friend. He also shared about his ex-wife, with whom he spent 16 years.
While getting ready for his first blind date, The Later Daters star Nate told the cameras that he was getting "anxious." His date was with Latreecia, 56, an IT professional. They talked about their military careers, as it was a mutual thing. They also found many other similarities between them.
He shared one vulnerability about himself, his injury, as Logan had told him to. Later, Nate also asked his date, Latreecia, for a selfie, which she agreed to. She felt their date went "really well," while Nate shared that he "really liked" her.
