The Prophet, the cult leader, plays a crucial yet largely unseen role in The Last of Us Season 2. Her presence is felt through the Seraphites. This is a group that reveres her as a source of spiritual wisdom.

The Prophet is regarded as the founder of the Seraphite movement. This movement emphasizes rigorous religious doctrine that combines religion with post-apocalyptic survival. Her teachings placed a strong emphasis on purity and rejecting the tainted past.

The events of Season 2 are significantly impacted by the Prophet's passing. Even though she died before the season began, her impact was widespread, since the Seraphites still ardently adhere to her teachings.

A major plot point is the Prophet's death, especially her execution at the hands of the Washington Liberation Front (WLF), and her martyrdom intensified the conflict between the Seraphites and the WLF.

The Seraphites' unwavering commitment to their goal is evidence of the Prophet's legacy, and as per the main storyline, they believe that her death was essential to their rebirth.

The Prophet gave the gang this sense of divine purpose in The Last of Us, and this purpose motivates them to carry out heinous deeds like the murder of defenseless bystanders. A violent ideology that misrepresents her initial message is now controlling the very individuals she once aimed to safeguard.

Ultimately, the Prophet's significance in Season 2 extends beyond her passing. Rather, it focuses on how her legacy continues to influence the Seraphites and those with whom they clash in their goals. Her absence is all the more significant because the potency of her ideas essentially drives the story of Season 2, whether they are distorted or remain true to their original form.
