A new teaser trailer for The Last of Us Season 2 just dropped, and fans are restless hearing about the release of the series' next installment. According to The Hollywood Reporter HBO also presented three striking posters while confirming a huge time jump for our beloved characters in the trailer.

Season two will jump five years into the future and introduce some new faces to the show. Joining the cast is Catherine O'Hara, known for her roles in Schitt's Creek, Home Alone, and Beetlejuice.

Meanwhile, Kaitlyn Dever has taken over as Abby - the character most centrally positioned in the show's future. Plot details are under wraps, but O'Hara and Dever have set the fandom ablaze with their introductions.

While there's no release date announced yet, Deadline reported that Season 2 will come out in 2025. Also, HBO chief Casey Bloys stated that principal photography will begin in early 2024.

Season 1, consisting of nine episodes, was launched between January and March of this year, but the WGA/SAG-AFTRA strike mid-year is likely to shift the release date of Season 2 beyond what it would have been.

Regarding the plot, there has been quite some suspense building up since the end of the first season. According to the description:

"After five years of peace following the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie’s collective past catches up to them, drawing them into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.”

Recurring stars in the much-awaited second season of the Emmy-winning series include Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, and Gabriel Luna. New additions to the regular cast include names like Kaitlyn Dever, Isabela Merced, Young Mazino, Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, Spencer Lord, Danny Ramirez, and Jeffrey Wright.

As mentioned, Catherine O'Hara will appear in the show too with her heavy presence in the new trailer.
