The Last of Us Season 2 episode 3, titled "The Path", puts the brakes on the story to mourn Joel's death from the previous episode. So, the episode doesn't feature any action scenes or even infected people for that matter, except for some dead ones right in the opening scenes of this episode. However, that doesn't mean that they are gone for long.

The preview for the fourth episode, set to release on May 4, 2025, features the infected as a major threat to Dina and Ellie as they navigate their way into a mysterious building. The last act of the third episode has Ellie and Dina leave Jackson to get their revenge on Abby. Thus, the building seen in the preview for the next one might be some sort of WLF (Washington Liberation Front) hideout in a bid to locate Abby.

When will The Last of Us Season 2 Episode 4 release?

The fourth episode will be released on May 4, 2025. As seen in the thumbnail of the video above, we are getting Jeffrey Wright in The Last of Us Season 2. The actor, who plays Jim Gordon in Matt Reeves' The Batman and its sequel, The Batman – Part II, is playing the role of Isaac Dixon, the leader of the WLF, the group that incorporated Abby and her small group of Fireflies.

Moreover, Wright provided the motion-capture for Isaac even in the game. Therefore, his return in The Last of Us Season 2 feels perfect because he brought the character to life even in the game. Some changes to the character were teased by the actor himself in a November 2024 interview with TVLine. This tease was regarding the backstory to his character:

"People have asked… whether we’ll get a little bit of a backstory about Isaac? We might. It might not be pretty."

This is different from the source material because all that's known about Isaac's past is that he was a part of the US Marine Corps before applying his prior experience to fight FEDRA's oppressive takeover of Seattle. Looks like the show will go more into his dark past.

The release time for the episode depends on the country you reside in:

Like every other episode of The Last of Us, the fourth one, releasing next Sunday, will be accessible on both HBO and the streaming platform Max at the aforementioned time.

"Five years after the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie are drawn into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind."
