The Last of Us Season 2 is unrelentingly harsh on the main characters, and it looks like it is only going to be tougher in the next episode. It is well-known that Ellie is immune to the Cordyceps virus and has survived not one, but two infection bites. But this is a secret that only she, Joel, Tess, and Tommy know as of now. Of these four, only Tommy and Ellie are alive.
But, in The Last of Us Season 2 Episode 4, it looks like there will be another character who will be learning about Ellie's immunity to the infection bites: Dina. She was introduced in the premiere episode of The Last of Us Season 2 as a possible love interest for Ellie. But for now, she is unaware of Ellie's immunity to Cordyceps. The official preview for the upcoming episode hints at this moment.
The Last of Us Season 2 Episode 4 preview teases the moment when Dina learns about Ellie's secret:
Dina will learn Ellie's truth in The Last of Us Season 2's fourth episode, just like she does in the second game, which was released back in 2020. In the preview seen before, we can see Ellie and Dina encountering a horde of infected people. Probably, in that scene, Ellie is bitten, and Dina turns the gun on her to shoot her.
But before she pulls the trigger, Ellie convinces Dina about her immunity. However, that's not the only development in The Last of Us Season 2 Episode 4.
The Last of Us Season 2's fourth episode will also introduce an important antagonist from the game:
We already know that The Last of Us Season 2 will not entirely adapt The Last of Us Part II. Instead, it will adapt only a portion of the game, with the other half being adapted in the third season, which was confirmed on April 9, 2025.
But The Last of Us Season 2 Episode 4 is going to introduce a villain from the game who will play a major role, Isaac Dixon. This character, played by Jeffrey Wright, is the brutal leader of the Washington Liberation Front (WLF), who is alluded to by Abby in the second episode. Not much is known about his backstory because the game doesn't go into it, except for his past as a soldier.
The series may retain this, but also add another layer. Based on the preview, we see Isaac in a FEDRA uniform. Thus, in this show, after the outbreak of the Cordyceps virus, he might have joined FEDRA under the impression of helping everyone. However, over time, he might get disillusioned and join the rebel forces to overthrow FEDRA.
This is unlike the game in which Isaac is a former soldier who used his professional experience to fight FEDRA's rule in Seattle from the very beginning. Actor Jeffrey Wright teased some changes to the character in a TVLine interview from November 2024:
"People have asked… whether we’ll get a little bit of a backstory about Isaac? We might. It might not be pretty."
