More about The Last of Us Season 2 and the new dangerous infected

As per the storyline of The Last of Us on HBO, Joel's choice to save Ellie from the Fireflies, putting her life before the prospect of a human cure, was a crucial moment in Season 1's conclusion. This choice paves the way for even more intricate connections and perilous dangers in the following chapter.

In Season 2, a new and horrifying form of infection takes center stage: stalkers. These animals are significantly smarter and strategic than anything that has been seen previously.

Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, the show's creators, have highlighted the particular difficulty Ellie and Dina face from the stalkers. Stalkers, unlike the typical infected, have an unsettling amount of patience and intellect. They do not hurry to assault; instead, they take their time, waiting for the right opportunity to strike.

On a recent episode of The Last of Us Podcast on the Max YouTube channel, Mazin shares:

“The stalker, of course, is an evolution character in the game, and we kind of wanted to spotlight the fact that they think, which is a huge problem. It is terrifying. Even the way they sound — that sadness — there’s a humanity in there still. There is more brain left in them.”
“Like she says, they plan. They stalk. It’s also very important to note here: it wins. In the sense that it bites Ellie and would infect her if she were anyone else on the planet. It’s that good. So this young woman who goes into a supermarket cocky as hell just got bit by this other thing that she did not see coming.

Adding to this, Druckmann reveals,

“They’re quiet, they run away, which is like they’ve never seen anything like this…
