Phoebe's return to the team in The Irrational
Season 2 intimidates Simon
The new episode of The Irrational Season 2 was released on November 26, 2024 and brought a new dynamic as Alec's research team now consists of three members following Phoebe's return. Her return is a good thing for fans who have missed her since her brief disappearance in Season 1.
Simon is a member of the team that replaced Phoebe after her departure. Lloyd-Jones portrays the role of Simon. Rizwan brought him into the team to fill the void left by Phoebe's character on Alec's team. He had his reasons for joining, wanting to know what happened to his brother from the information Alec was working on.
On Phoebe's return, actor Max Lloyd-Jones says, “I think intimidated is a good word for it. She's a big presence as far as an intellectual heavyweight. Obviously, she was the number one RA before changing departments at the end of the last season.”
Simon knows that Phoebe is back for good. He is worried about his job security as he feels that the job he got because of someone's absence, has now returned. Although Alec reassures Simon that they can all work together and play nice, Simon is still worried and continues to bring one thing or another to the table.
The actor elaborates on his character's feelings; “It's a fun dynamic that they've set up for us and gives us a very natural amount of tension that we get to bring to every scene. So that's always a gift as an actor to play with.”

Phoebe’s return to The Irrational Season 2
Phoebe (Molly Kunz) is initially seen working with Professor Alec Mercer (Jesse L. Martin) and is leading his team of research assistants. She is then offered a new job by another professor at the end of Season 1 of The Irrational.
Phoebe is not as excited about her new job as she had expected. In episode 2, we learn that Rachel has been plagiarising, and in episode 3, Phoebe seeks Marisa's advice on how to handle the situation. Rachel finds out that Phoebe has reported her and, instead of understanding Phoebe's decision, decides to fire her. Now Rachel feels that she can't trust Phoebe with her secrets, leaving Phoebe with the option of returning to Alec's team.
Phoebe has talked about how much she misses working with Alec. While returning to Alec's team will benefit her, Simon may be intimidated by her presence. However, this collaboration could also lead to a romantic relationship later in The Irrational.
