Shark Tank mentor Jamie Kern Lima discussed various things with Oprah Winfrey during one of her podcast episodes, which premiered on YouTube on July 2, 2024. The second part of the episode featured Jamie asking Oprah to share about how things always happen "for" you and not "to" you.

She asked Oprah to share the "idea" which Oprah had mentioned. The Shark Tank investor stated that it could be helpful for individuals while they might face setbacks or are in pain.

"Will you share about this idea? Because this is a hard thing for people to grasp when they've gone through tough times or setbacks or things that feel unfair or that are painful. But the idea that things are always happening for you, like not to you, but for you," asked the Shark Tank mentor.

During the second part of the podcast episode, Oprah opened up about how things "always happen" for you, and not to you. She stated that nothing could truly be "lost."

She shared an incident which was about The Color Purple, a 2023 film adaption directed by Blitz Bazawule. She stated that it was "masterfully directed."

"The Color Purple was telling the story of being a young boy in Ghana with no access to film school, no access to, you know, directors, no possible way of imagining that he could ever be sitting in Hollywood directing a hundred million dollar film, but that he had crayons and paper and used to draw and use his imagination to make stories."

After learning about that, Oprah told him that with all those crayons and the paper he had, he must have thought that he couldn't be like the other kids. Because he didn't have the coloring sets the rest of the kids had.

He didn't have the drawing board. However, with his imagination, he succeeded:

"All that drawing with all those little crayons, none of it was lost. And so for everybody, for everything you've ever done is preparing you for all that you're meant to do and meant to be. Nothing's lost. Nothing's wasted," stated Oprah.

Sharing more with the Shark Tank mentor, Oprah recalled the "trials" she had been through, they made her a "better interviewer, better person, a better woman." She stated she had become a "better person" and a "better friend." Hence, nothing was "lost."

Further in the segment, when the Shark Tank judge asked about being born with a "purpose," Oprah stated that without recognizing that everything is not about "yourself." Only after accepting that face, individuals can reach their "fullest potential."

Oprah recalled the year 1985 when she was working, she had a "sense of desire" and a "yearning for beauty." She stated that whenever there was a bowl of flowers, that was an indirect indication that God was "smiling."

She talked about beautifully arranged vases, or even a bowl of lemons, and stated that such things were the "presence of nature."
