Rather than just killing people, he is saving some of them to satisfy his godly complex of being their savior.

The team also learns Malak's new way of targeting people. He goes into a public library and targets anybody who takes his book about grief, thinking that they need his help to understand what is beyond this life. And in his mind, he is helping them achieve it.
