Kuba's journey in The Hooligan is a harrowing tale of vengeance, loyalty, and the harsh realities of life within the world of football hooliganism. The series, which premiered on January 29, 2025, follows 17-year-old Kuba Wójcik as he navigates the dangerous landscape of rival football clubs, Gladius and Kosynierzy.

His infatuation with Zyga, the head of Gladius's hooligan firm, pushes him further down the path of crime and violence. The story unfolds in the context of how Kuba's decisions affect his family and friends while bringing out the cycle of violence so dominant in this culture.

At the very center of this story is the relationship between Kuba and his father, Michal, who was released from prison only recently after being imprisoned for many years for committing crimes connected to Zyga. Michal tried to lead his son away from this lifestyle as Kuba kept getting more and more attracted to Zyga's world.

Complicating matters further is his relationship with Blanka, a smart and determined girl who is also struggling financially, as they both become involved in drug dealing to escape their dire circumstances. Their plan to double-cross both clubs sets off a chain reaction that ultimately leads to tragedy.

A quest for revenge in The Hooligan

The pivotal moment in The Hooligan occurs when Zyga discovers that Kuba and Blanka have been selling drugs independently. In a very sadistic punishment attempt, Zyga retaliates to Kuba, chopping off part of his hand. The result is a dramatic transformation from an impressionable teenager, Kuba's becoming an engine of anger, and desire to take revenge on others.

Thus, his having lost the other hand signifies his losing a whole part of it, as such a thing doesn't symbolize only physical, but also breaks all remaining vestiges of innocence. As the story unfolds, Kuba discovers that Zyga was the one who had his father imprisoned and was then tormented.

This knowledge strengthens his will to confront Zyga. The tension is increased when Michal is killed in a fight with Zyga, and Kuba goes completely over the edge. In a rage, he finds Zyga and confronts him in a fierce battle.

The climax in The Hooligan: Confrontation and Consequences

In the climactic confrontation, Kuba manages to stab Zyga with a chisel but hesitates to finish him off when Zyga's daughter, Ola, intervenes. This moment reflects the internal conflict within Kuba as he grapples with his desire for vengeance against his lingering sense of morality.

Despite injuring Zyga, he fails to deliver a fatal blow, allowing Zyga to escape. After this meeting, Kuba is arrested and taken to prison. In prison, he continues to grapple with his actions and their consequences for his family and friends.

Meanwhile, Zyga's downfall is also in store; during a botched drug deal, he is murdered by members of a rival gang-an ironic twist that underlines the futility of violence. Kuba's girlfriend Blanka reveals her pregnancy while he's in jail, and she will try to overcome her life only with a sore heart because she can't ever forget the hell that erupted between them.

All in all, The Hooligan finally ends on that sad note after Mikolaj, Kuba's younger brother, starts replicating his old brother's acts of violence too, which indicates that the cycle of hooliganism was not going anywhere.

Altogether, The Hooligan ended with unsolved conflicts and dramatic effects from pursuing revenge. Since Kuba eventually engaged in his revenge by exposing Zyga, and then injuring him, he doesn't achieve redress or purgation as the story will come to a close.
