Since its premiere on Netflix on March 13, 2025, Adolescence has been the talk of the town. Everyone seems to be invested in the show, and from the common viewers to the critics, all are impressed with this one-shot four-episode mini-series that took its inspiration from two real-life stabbing incidents that involved girls getting stabbed by young boys.

Created by Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne, Adolescence tells the story of 13-year-old Jamie Miller (Owen Cooper) as he is accused of killing Katie, a teenage classmate of his. The series follows how this shocking accusation affects the whole Miller family and whether it is proven true.

During a time when social media is everywhere and there is no way of parents knowing what is going on with their children as they spend more and more time on various social platforms, Adolescence emerges as an essential watch that talks about important issues like male rage and how a teenage boy in today’s world of Andrew Tate and the likes of such influencers feel about masculinity.

While Stephen Graham plays Jamie’s father, Eddie Miller, what many people have missed is that Graham’s wife, Hannah Walters, also stars in the show and appears briefly on screen in episode 2. Hannah also serves as the series' executive producer.

Let us now explore who Hannah Walters is and her role in Adolescence.

What role does Hannah Walters play in Adolescence?

In Adolescence, Hannah Walters plays the role of Mrs Bailey, a teacher at Bruntwood Academy, where Jamie and Katie are students. She appears in episode 2 as she comforts Jade (Fatima Bojang), Katie’s best friend, who had attacked Ryan (Kaine Davis) in the playground.

Jade was visibly upset since Katie’s death, and suspecting that Ryan was also involved in her murder, she beat him up. Walter’s Mrs Bailey tries to comfort her and asks her about the condition of her relationship with her mother, which hints at Jade's turbulent family life.

Despite trying her best, Mrs Bailey ends up agitating Jade even more, as she thinks that her teacher is trying to make her talk to a shrink. Jade leaves, and Mrs Bailey helplessly asks her to stop. This is where the camera starts to follow Jade, and that’s the last scene of Mrs Bailey in Adolescence.
