The final trailer for The Handmaid's Tale is finally out! Brace yourselves, as the wait for the sixth season is almost over!
The new trailer released by Hulu features Elisabeth Moss, where the main characters are in their ongoing fight against Gilead. The conflict is more intense than ever, and a major war is on the horizon.
June Osborne (Moss) is more determined than ever, leading a resistance movement against Gilead’s brutal regime. In the trailer, she passionately calls for action:
“Rise up and fight for your freedom! We will gather everyone who hates Gilead and finally declare: Enough!”
Hulu has confirmed that The Handmaid’s Tale will return on April 8, 2025, with the first three episodes dropping on the same day. New episodes will then be released weekly on Tuesdays, leading up to the grand finale on May 27, 2025.
What to expect in Season 6
Season 5 set the stage for this final battle. It began with June’s unforgettable smirk as she confronted Serena Joy Waterford (Yvonne Strahovski). The tension between them built throughout the season, and in the finale, fate brought them together again, alone on a train carrying Gilead refugees to Vancouver, with hopes of escaping to Hawaii.
At the time of the finale’s release in November 2022, Moss, who is also an executive producer and director, told The Hollywood Reporter:
“It’s actually a pretty positive ending for the season, which is unusual for us. It’s a cliffhanger, but there’s something hopeful about it. And, of course, of all the people June would end up on the train with—it had to be Serena, the other half of this experience.”
The final season picks up two years later, with June and Serena Joy in very different positions. June reunites with her husband, Luke (O-T Fagbenle), and her lover, Nick (Max Minghella), as she prepares to take down Gilead for good. Meanwhile, Serena appears unsure of what lies ahead.
Hulu’s official description for the season teases major developments:
- June remains relentless in her mission to destroy Gilead.
- Luke and Moira (Samira Wiley) join the resistance.
- Serena tries to reshape Gilead’s future.
- Commander Lawrence (Bradley Whitford) and Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd) must face the consequences of their past actions.
- Nick faces difficult moral choices.
This final chapter of The Handmaid’s Tale will explore powerful themes of hope, courage, solidarity, and resilience in the fight for justice and freedom.
