From the universe of Willy Wonka, Netflix announces The Golden Ticket, a competition series inspired by the beloved world of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Contestants can enter the futuristic chocolate factory and participate in the challenges it offers, which are still behind the curtains.

Netflix acquired the Roald Dahl Story Company in 2021, leading to multiple adaptations, including The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, which won an Oscar. The Golden Ticket appears to be part of Netflix’s continued expansion into the Willy Wonka universe. Read on to learn more about the show.

What we know about The Golden Ticket competition series by Netflix

According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, after inviting and analyzing several pitches from production houses, Netflix finally selected Eureka Productions to produce the competition series. The fantastical world comes to life, extending an open call to anyone who wants to participate. However, only a lucky few will get the chance to witness the magical world.

As Netflix explains, the competition will be dreamlike but is expected to pose challenging twists to test the participants' "instincts, resilience, and ability to thrive in the chaotic and competitive environment."

“We are thrilled to bring the magic of The Chocolate Factory to life like never before,” said Jeff Gaspin, Netflix's Vice President of Unscripted. “This one-of-a-kind reality competition blends adventure, strategy, and social dynamics, creating an experience that is as captivating as it is unpredictable. For the first time, a lucky few won’t just have to imagine the experience — they’ll get to step inside the factory and live it.”

This success highlights the strong demand for similar content, and The Golden Ticket seeks to fulfill that.
